Tim Mattheis, project architect, advised that even though the 1999 Master Plan <br />was not approved including the entitlements, it still has a place and sets for the <br />early development of the facilities. He presented an overview of the site prior to <br />the master plan and commented on the planned parking. He covered issues <br />regarding traffic and safety and noted the majority of traffic would go out to <br />Hopyard. He commented on landscaping and neighborhood concerns as it relates <br />to visibility. He described the options and indicated they deal with perceived traffic <br />issues. In response to Council question, the cost difference between Options 1 <br />and 3 would be $400,000 to $500,000. <br />Becky Altman addressed the City Council indicating she believed the church did <br />their plan thinking of what was best for them, but it is not best for the <br />neighborhood. She felt Del Valle should be used for cars entering and exiting the <br />church, not Golden Road which is a residential street. <br />Rick Altman addressed the City Council indicating he attended a neighborhood <br />meeting and it appeared the plans were all done and it was felt as though the <br />neighbors were being shown the plan, not asked for input on how to do the plan. <br />David Faustina addressed the City Council as Youth Minister of Trinity Lutheran <br />Church. He addressed the mission of the church for the youth of the community. <br />He believed by solidifying the proposed plan, the community is saying "yes" to the <br />youth. He asked the Council to say "yes" to the youth in Pleasanton. <br />Dan Faustina addressed the City Council encouraging them to deny the appeal <br />and to uphold the unanimous decision of the Planning Commission which will allow <br />Trinity Lutheran to complete the Master Plan. He noted he has attended the <br />community meetings and they have shown great care and compassion. He <br />concluded by indicating the best of intentions has been put forward with regard to <br />Option #3 and on paper it might look like a good option, but in reality it is not. He <br />asked the Council to allow them to build the project. <br />Barbara Lee addressed the City Council indicating she lives across the street from <br />the subject property. Her concerns are traffic and parking and she urged Council <br />to maintain the parking and not increase the parking on Golden Road. <br />Mary Jane Medeiros addressed the City Council and urged them to keep the traffic <br />flow off of Golden Road. <br />Kenneth Lohre addressed the City Council expressing his concern with additional <br />costs which could result in the closure of the pre-school. He commented on the <br />importance of the pre-school and that it serves the entire community. <br />Mike Serrano addressed the City Council indicating the proposed placement of the <br />building will double the size of the parking lot on Golden Road and decrease the <br />parking on Del Valle Parkway.
