(SR 05:312)
This item was continued to December 6, 2005.
6e
Resolution amendina comDensation for City of Pleasanton Manaaement EmDlovees.
(SR 05:290)
Mr. Fialho presented the staff report.
Mr. Brozosky pointed out the staff report did not mention compensation for confidential
employees. In the past, he believed Council discussed and approved salary increases for
management and confidential employees at the same time.
Mr. Fialho said the staff report applied to management employees. The confidential
employees typically track with the associated classification that it is attached to in the regular
bargaining units. These positions are clerical in nature and sit across from clerical positions in
the bargaining unit that are paid equally.
Mr. Brozosky asked if the 3.5 percent compensation was based on actual salaries or on
the mid-point.
Mr. Fialho said the 3.5 percent compensation was based on actual salaries.
Mr. Brozosky asked how far away were the actual salaries from the mid point?
Mr. Fialho said the actual salaries were slightly below the mid point and $300,000 was
applied to actuals; therefore, the payroll for management including all wages and benefits was
10.5 million and 3.5 percent of that is $300,000.
Mr. Brozosky asked if employees who are preparing to retire within the next several
months automatically receive increases in salary?
Mr. Fialho said employees that have been hired within the past 11 months were not
eligible for a performance adjustment. An employee must be in the PERS system for a period
of 12 months to receive the value of an adjustment in their retirement allowance to be eligible for
that year's compensation adjustment.
Mayor Hosterman invited public comments.
Pleasanton City Council 24 11/01/05
Minutes
