Mr. Fialho suggested a compromise, which would provide the Planning Director the
flexibility to evaluate trees between 15 and 24 gallons and to make a determination based on
privacy.
Ms. McGovern amended her motion, which was seconded by Mr. Sullivan, to
require the Diazs to plant three trees on their property to provide additional privacy. The
Planning Director shall approve the location, size, species and initial height of the trees
to maximize privacy.
The roll call vote was taken as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, and Mayor
Hosterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAINED: None
6b11\
Review of a traffic sianal controlled crossina at Petronave Lane and roundabouts on
Vinevard Avenue. (SR 05:293)
Mr. Wilson presented the staff report.
Mr. Sullivan asked if there were any stop signs or controls for through traffic on Vineyard
Avenue.
Mr. Wilson said no.
When the homes sites are constructed north of the Vineyard Avenue and Petronave
Lane intersection, Mr. Sullivan asked if this would be one of the ways for vehicles to gain access
to Vineyard Avenue.
Mr. Wilson said yes. Currently residents exiting Petronave Lane and the home sites just
north of the intersection travel around the roundabouts and move into the street itself. If the
roundabouts were removed, staff would recommend stop sign controls be installed on the two
sides streets and traffic on Thiessen would be stopped with a stop sign, and traffic on Vineyard
Avenue would continue to go through.
Mr. Sullivan believed motorists trying to get on Vineyard Avenue going left would have to
look for a gap in traffic.
Mr. Brozosky asked why it was necessary to have a right hand turn lane onto Thiessen
from Vineyard Avenue.
Mr. Wilson said a right hand turn lane was not necessary.
Mr. Brozosky believed one of the reasons the roundabouts were installed as opposed to
a traffic signal at this location was because it was predicted that traffic during school time would
backup beyond the Fire Station. He asked how many vehicles would backup to the Fire Station.
Pleasanton City Council 12 10/18/05
Minutes
