He was hopeful that staff would receive solid direction from Council this <br />evening to help influence the outcome through the Planning Commission process. <br /> Mayor Hosterman recalled that Council either supported or discussed the contemporary <br />style design at a prior meeting. Council also directed staff to include other amenities such as <br />water fountains. diaper changing stations and bicycle racks. <br /> Mr. Fialho said yes and Council also directed staff to have the proposed design be <br />reviewed by the PDA and Planning Commission. <br /> Mr. Sullivan pointed out that at Council's previous meeting he expressed his concerns <br />regarding the contemporary style design. <br /> Ms. McGovern's major concern was related to moving this project forward as quickly as <br />possible. She asked staff when Council could review the final plan before it went out to bid? <br /> Mr. Fialho believed the final plan would be presented to the Planning Commission before <br />the end of the year and ready to bid in early 2006 with construction to begin in March or April <br />2006. <br /> Ms. McGovern said she is looking for cost containmenl. She wanted more than one <br />restroom facility for the amount of money that is available. (SR 05:276) <br /> Rob Wilson, Director of Public Works, presented the staff report. <br /> In response to an inquiry by Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Wilson said if a decision was reached to <br />remove the roundabouts today and later on Neal School was built, the roundabouts would need <br />to be reinstalled and the City would have to spend the money twice. He pointed out that staff <br />recommended that Council revisit this issue after the pending court decisions have been <br />finalized regarding Neal School. <br /> Mr. Sullivan believed many of the emails Council received were related accidents as a <br />result of the roundabouts. He asked staff to describe how many accidents had occurred and the <br />nature of these accidents. <br /> Mr. Wilson said there were eight recorded accidents since the construction of the two <br />roundabouts.
