<br />Mr. Nolan pointed out that there is a row of landscaping that is located on the western <br />edge of Delucchi Park that separates the restroom from the Depot. <br />In response to an inquiry by Mr. Thorne, Mr. Noland noted that there are vantage points <br />where someone could see both the restroom facility and the Train Station simultaneously. <br />Ms. McGovern asked if there were a way to ask ELS Architecture to continue to work on <br />the design before this project goes out to bid in an effort to try and make the contingency within <br />the $290,000 larger by looking at how it could be valued engineered. <br />Mr. Wolfe pointed out that the 10 percent contingency is specifically for any price <br />increases or to address something that might occur in the field. and it would only be used in the <br />event some issue surfaced. <br />Ms. McGovern wanted to construct more than one restroom facility and she did not know <br />whether the restroom facilities at the Firehouse Arts Center would be utilized as public <br />restrooms. <br />Mr. Wolfe noted that the design for the Firehouse Arts Center that Council has looked at <br />includes public restrooms. The discussion that he has had with the City Manager is that for <br />public events, the restrooms could be available for public use, such as the Friday Concert in the <br />Park series. <br />Ms. McGovern was considering the larger events in the Downtown such as the Antique <br />Fair, Heritage Days or other large events, which draws a larger crowd to the Downtown. <br />While staff and Council have had preliminary discussions concerning the Firehouse Arts <br />Center restroom facilities, Mr. Fialho noted Council will still have an opportunity to weigh in as to <br />whether these restroom facilities are oriented outside to the public or oriented in such as way as <br />previously described by Mr. Wolfe. <br />Mayor Hosterman invited public comments. There being no public comments, she <br />closed the meeting open to the public. <br />It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Ms. McGovern, to approve the <br />contemporary style of design as reflected in Attachment 2 to the staff report. <br />Mr. Sullivan preferred the traditional "Railroad Style" design as it fit in better with the <br />remainder of the Downtown and closer to the Train Station and to other buildings with the same <br />style. <br />Mayor Hosterman preferred the contemporary style of design as it had the potential for a <br />nice looking building and in keeping with the Downtown. <br />Mr. Sullivan asked if the contemporary style design would be submitted to the Planning <br />Commission for its review and consideration. <br />Mr. Fialho wanted to allow Council time to make a decision prior to the design being <br />submitted to the Planning Commission because he wanted to avoid a situation of having three <br />different options on the table for consideration and in the meantime, no design and spec <br />Pleasanton City Council 14 10/04/05 <br />Minutes <br />
