Ms. Morley responded no, that it was tradition in Pleasanton, The Pleasanton Paratransit service <br />Js about thirty years old and was originally established not to limit the age by any random number. <br /> <br /> Ms. McGovern questioned the increase in cost for fuel and wondered if it would be an <br />encroachment and if it was planned for. <br /> <br /> Ms, Morley responded that the cost increases have been planned, and the usage fees are <br />reviewed and based on an average amount and most of the balance is an average. The funding that is <br />received is an allocation to the City and the increase is not driven by the amount of the general fund <br />subsidy. <br /> <br /> Ms. McGovern questioned the statement of 250 new riders that will register for this service in <br />2005/O6. <br /> <br /> Ms. Morley explained ridership and the meaning of an active client base. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wolfe stated that there are occasions that riders are turned away if the service is maximized. <br /> <br /> Ms. McGovern stated that Jack Dove, a Pleasanton resident, had talked to Council and LAV-rA <br />about paratransit services. He was trying to save costs by setting specific dates to go to the mall and the <br />grocery store for shopping so that the number of people could be increased on each ride. She wondered <br />if staff had considered this matter. <br /> <br /> Ms. Morley said yes, and she would bring back additional information if requested. <br /> <br /> Ms. McGovern noted that there have been many changes since 1997. She believed this program <br />is heavily subsidized. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brozosky stated LAVTA is looking at these services and has found that it is cheaper to go with <br />taxi services for some of these needs instead of supplying vans, particularly if there is no need for <br />disability access. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Ms. McGovern to adopt Resolution 05- <br />026, a resolution authorizing the Director of Parks and Community Services to submit FY 2005-06 <br />applications for Alameda County Measure B funds from Alameda County Transportation <br />Improvement Authority (ACTIA), and the Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 4.5 funds <br />from Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and to direct staff to return to Council with <br />an analysis of the save box recovery costs. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was taken as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, and Mayor Hosterman <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />7.
