__ Bernal property and the staff report indicates that this is possible. She mentioned that
she has been approached about the possibility for a lighted basketball court. She
believed there are other potential uses that could be discussed that relate to sports that
are not currently included in the design plans. She asked staff if the western portion of
the Bernal property and the knoll would be considered at some point during this process.

Mr. Sullivan asked if the western portion of the Bernal property and the knoll area
is a part of this process.

Mr. Fialho said yes. The knoll area is adjacent to the Valley Avenue underpass
and the entire west section of the Bernal property.

Mr. Wolfe said that if Council combines both processes, it might consider the
knoll area and the entire western section of the Bemal property as a community park.
Staff has only been focusing on the 50-acre community park. If Council chooses to
include the first draft Park Master Plan prepared by RRM Design, he asked Council to
include it in its motion.

Mr. Brozosky amended his motion, agreed to by Mr. Sullivan, to include
directing staff to forward the first draft Park Master Plan design prepared by RRM
Design Group and the third revised draft Park Master Plan design prepared by
M.D. Fotheringham to the Commissions to review and provide comments.

Ms. McGovern believed it is important for people who are considering buying a
-- home near the western portion of the Bemal property to understand what is going to
occur with this piece of property.

Mr. Brozosky wondered why the Civic Arts Commission was not included in step
six of Option One to jointly review and make, with the Parks and Recreation
Commission, recommendations to the Council regarding the Community Park PUD plan.

Mr. Wolfe said that one of the reasons that the Parks and Recreation
Commission has been made a focus is because historically, the Commission has had
purview over park development and has been responsible for making a direct
recommendation to the Council. The feeling is that the Civic Arts Commission and the
other Commissions will have the opportunity to provide input early on in the process.
Ultimately, one of the responsibilities of the Parks and Recreation Commission is to
make recommendations directly to Council as it relates to park development.

The roll call vote was taken as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, and Mayor
Hosterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Pleasanton City Council 10 02/15/05
Minutes
