Ms. McGovern thanked Jill Buck for partnering with the City on the Go Green
Initiative. She noted that the Go Green Initiative organization won a Community
Character award for bringing a great learning tool to the community for the youth, and for
the community to do its part towards recycling. She would like for the recycling efforts to
be included in any major event of the Pleasanton Downtown Association,

Mr. Sullivan concurred with Ms. McGovern's comments.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, and
Mayor Hosterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Item 8a
Fleco, qnition of the Pleasanton Enerq¥ Committee Accomplishments. (SR 04:286)

Rob Wilson, Director of Public Works, presented the staff report.

Mayor Hosterman asked how work is progressing on the energy element?

Mr. Wilson said the committee working on the energy element would be meeting
later this month to try and complete the draft. The Pleasanton Energy Committee has
not had a chance to review that committee's work.

Mr. Baker believed that the draft energy element would be completed early next
year.

Mr. Sullivan clarified that the Pleasanton Energy Committee initiated the High
School Art Contest.

Mr. Filaho said the Pleasanton Energy Committee has recommended conducting
an art contest for grammar, middle and high school students on energy efficiency. The
limited cost associated with this contest is approximately $2,500. He said the art contest
has been deferred administratively with the Go Green Program activities in April 2005.
Go Green staff would market the program and the activities associated with the art
contest; therefore, the costs associated with this contest are not reflected in staff's
recommendations.

Mr. Brozosky asked if Council was acting prematurely by deactivating the
Pleasanton Energy Committee when the entire Committee has not had a chance to
review the draft energy element?

Mr. Wilson said the intention would be to use the full membership of the
Pieasanton Energy Committee as an advisory group to staff to complete the draft plan.

There were no pubic comments.

Pleasanton City Council 19 12/07/04
Minutes
