As space is allocated to various leagues, the lines are painted on the fields. He
noted that the four-foot fencing near an existing walkway to the north and south end to
the school. The thought process was to try and get traffic to use the parking off of
Dorman. The idea of the fencing was to deal with the neighbors' concerns to eliminate
the traffic and parking along Payne Road and Denker Drive. The Parks and Recreation
Commission supported the basic improvements and suggested that the decision for the
fencing be deferred. The Parks and Recreation Commission discussed sharing the cost
of these improvements with the School District. The Commission recommended that the
City Council split the funding for the improvements; two-thirds by the City and one-third
by the School District. The basic improvements include irrigation, grading, minor soil
amendments, and upgrading the water service to ensure there is adequate water
coverage, particularly during the warmer months. The projected cost for the basic
improvements is approximately $2.25 million dollars. The other portion of this project is
to consider putting in a subdrainage system similar to what was done at Val Vista Park.
Much of the cost associated with putting in a subdrainage system is the importing of the
soil. A subdrainage system would add approximately $1.8 million dollars to the overall

Pleasanton City Council 12 12/07/04
Minutes
