(SR 04:194) <br /> <br /> Tim Neal, Police Chief, presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> In response to an inquiry by Mayor Pico, Mr. Neil said that the City received <br />$130,000 in funds last year and $20,000 to $30,000 in technology funds that the City will <br />not receive this year. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico said all of the recommended expenditures were for a valuable project <br />or program. He asked staff if it needed additional funds for any projects or programs. <br /> <br /> Mr. Neal said that the Police Department does not lack in technology. Each year <br />when the funding is renewed, the Police Department conducts surveys of other agencies <br />to attempt to stay contemporary. Hells proud to state that the Pleasanton Police <br />Department is "state of the art" with respect to its equipment. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico wanted to be absolutely certain that the City's emergency first <br />responders all have the finest equipment and state of the art training in order to protect <br />the community's safety. If there were any project that was not included in this year's <br />expenditures, he would like to provide the funds for it. <br /> <br /> Mr. Neal said staff prioritized these items. The Police Department is very well <br />equipped and has taken the opportunity to look at nonconvential equipment. He noted <br />that every police vehicle is equipped with a defibulator. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala complimented thelPolice Department for its volunteer program. She <br />believed this program was a good recruiting process. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico opened the public hearing.
