In response to an inquiry by Mayor Pico, Mr. Neil said that the City received $130,000 in funds last year and $20,000 to $30,000 in technology funds that the City will not receive this year. Mayor Pico said all of the recommended expenditures were for a valuable project or program. He asked staff if it needed additional funds for any projects or programs. Mr. Neal said that the Police Department does not lack in technology. Each year when the funding is renewed, the Police Department conducts surveys of other agencies to attempt to stay contemporary. Hells proud to state that the Pleasanton Police Department is "state of the art" with respect to its equipment. Mayor Pico wanted to be absolutely certain that the City's emergency first responders all have the finest equipment and state of the art training in order to protect the community's safety. If there were any project that was not included in this year's expenditures, he would like to provide the funds for it. Mr. Neal said staff prioritized these items. The Police Department is very well equipped and has taken the opportunity to look at nonconvential equipment. He noted that every police vehicle is equipped with a defibulator. Ms. Ayala complimented thelPolice Department for its volunteer program. She believed this program was a good recruiting process. Mayor Pico opened the public hearing.
