It was moved by Mr. iBrozosky, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to add an urgency <br />item (agenda item 4u) to consider adopting a resolution amending the amount of the <br />filing fee for the November 2, 2004 Municipal Election. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was taken as follows: <br />AYIgS: Councilmembers - Ayala. Brozosky, Hosterman, and Mayor Pict <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Campbell <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />4. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br /> Mayor Pict recognized the following individuals who had questions on items <br />listed on the Consent Calendar: <br /> <br /> Michael Dunlap, 1620 S. Loop Road, Alameda, Director of Safety for Operating <br />Engineers, asked if it was Council's intent to defer the discussion and action on a letter to <br />the Alameda County Planning Commission regarding the Granite Construction <br />Company's asphalt batch plant to a future agenda? <br /> <br /> Mayor Pict noted that this was a recommendation from the Planning <br />Commission. As a result of the Planning Commission's recommendation, this item has <br />been placed on tonight's agenda as item 6h, which will be continued. <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan pointed out that the Planning Commission was unable to pass a <br />motion recommending that the letter be sent. <br /> <br /> Andrea Matarazzo, 400 Capitol Mall, Suite 1800, Sacramento, an attorney <br />representing Granite Construction Company, asked for additional clarification with <br />respect to agenda item 4b, Actions of the Zoning Administrator, pertaining to the letter to <br />the Alameda County Planning Commission regarding the Granite Construction <br />Company's asphalt batch plant. It was her understanding that Council was not taking any <br />action and there would be no ~fffect of approving the Consent Calendar with this item <br />included in the Consent Calendar? <br /> <br />Mayor Pict said that was correct. <br /> <br /> Joe Ely, 3423 Windsor Court, representing California Clean Money Campaign, <br />which is a non-partisan organization that provides competitive public funding for <br />candidates who reject private :money for State and local office. He was present to <br />promote awareness about the program and gain support in this effort. He encouraged <br />Council to visit its website at www. Caclean.org. California Clean Money Campaign <br />works with local entities to promote clean money for local elections. It will work to <br />tighten campaign financing regulations in non-charter cities. Candidates who qualify <br />receive enough public funding for viable campaigns, and if privately funded candidates <br />outspend them, they receive extra public funding to a limit.
