announcement. The active recruitment for this process will begin in July and continue
through mid August. He noted that Council has not determined the official final process.

Ms. McKeehan said that one of the individuals that the executive recruiter will be
talking with is the Pleasanton Unified School District Superintendent.

Ms. McGoveru asked when Council would be able to inform the public about the
final process.

Mayor Pico noted that the issues for the final process revolve around timing and
whether or not this Council will be able to complete it before a new Council takes office
in November. He said that the ultimate final selection of the new City Manager would be
the responsibility of the City Council.

Ms. McGovern was hopeful that Council would keep the public apprised as to the
process.

Ms. McKeehan noted that the executive recruiter would be conducting interviews
with City Commission members and business organizations that would provide input to
the recruiter. This input will be provided to Council for consideration as the job
announcement is drafted.

Ms. McGoveru noted that the position of City Manager is the one of the most
important positions that Council will appoint. She asked Council to allow the community
to be informed about the process.

Vic Peterson, 7925 Kemper Court, addressed Council in favor of building a fence
along Foothill Road. He believed a fence would deter foot traffic.

Tom Perkins, 7841 La Quinta Court, noted that every other property on Foothill
Road has a fence. He asked that the Golden Eagle residents be informed as to the process
that is required for constructing a fence on Foothill Road.

Rosemary Booth, 4735 Mangrove Drive, Marketing Manager for the
Livermom/Amador Valley Transit Authority (WHEELS), announced that WHEELS and
the Bay Area Air Quality Management District have partnered to provide free rides
aboard WHEELS buses on Spare the Air Days. She noted that a Spare the Air Day is any
day between June and October when the air quality in the Bay Area is predicted to exceed
the health standards set by the UCPA. Spare the Air Days are held to encourage residents
to modify daily routines in ways that minimize air pollution. Taking public
transportation helps promote cleaner air by reducing automobile use, which can worsen
smog and public health problems. She noted that WHEELS provides travel training for
individuals to show them how easy it is to get around town on a WHEELS bus,
particularly on a Spare the Air Day when residents may ride for free. WHEELS is asking
residents to help spread the word about the Spare the Air Day Programs by sharing this
information with friends, family and neighbors.

Pleasanton City Council 7 06/01/04
Minutes
