The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councflmembers - Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, and Hosterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: Mayor Pico
ABSTAIN: None

Mr. Brozosky was willing to try the al~ernoon metering conducted between the
hours of 3:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Knowles mentioned that for most of the day, there is a 15 second delay, and
during the evening peak hours, eastbound, it is a 20-second delay. Currently, the
metering is occurring between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a 20-second delay. He proposed the
metering be conducted between the hours of 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a 20-second
delay.

Mr. Brozosky preferred to keep the metering the way it currently is, which is from
4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a 20-second delay. The remainder of the time, the traffic signal
could be an efficient traffic light that is green for Vineyard Avenue, unless there is cross
traffic.

Ms. Hosterman asked if the hours of 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. were adequate, as she
thought Mr. Knowles had mentioned the hours of 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Based on the volume of traffic, Mr. Knowles suggested the hours of 3:30 p.m. to
6:30 p.m. Currently the metering is being conducted between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Mr. Brozosky's intent was to discourage cut through traffic for commuters. He
believed 3:30 p.m. was too early to start.

It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Mr. Campbell, to continue the
metering at the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Ruby Hill Drive between the
hours of 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a 20-second delay.

Ms. Hosterman would like staffto inform Council if there seemed to be any
indication that the metering times were not working. She asked the community to
continue to provide to Council its input and experiences.

Mr. Brozosky asked staffifthe metering times could be changed by Thursday.

Mr. Knowles said yes.

Pleasanton City Council 26 01/20/04
Minutes
