Ms. Ayala felt the local architects, realtors, developers, and community groups such as
the Chambers will want to be part of this.

Mayor Pico felt the 26 members listed could be a starting position. Invitations could be
extended to the Chamber of Commerce, the Pleasanton Downtown Association, Sierra Club,
Mark Sweeney, Joe Callahan, School Board representatives, perhaps the Mayors of Dublin and
Livermore and the County Supervisor. That would give a more regional perspective.

Ms. Ayala asked if the Mayor would be interested in going to Livermore to work on a
charrette there?

Mayor Pico said he was interested in working with his fellow mayors on regional issues.
Every oppommity should be taken to open the door and extend the hand of friendship to
participate in a project like this. He was certain the Mayor of Dublin was serious about this
program. He and she went to the Urban Land Institute in Pasadena for a program on these kinds
of processes. There were discussions about doing a coordinated process between Dublin and
Pleasanton, but that would have to wait, since the two cities are in different stages of the
development process. Dublin has a lot of bare land and Pleasanton is more into revitalizing
portions of the city.

Ms. Hosterman said that sounded like an excellent group but would like to find a date a
little farther in the future.

Mayor Pico indicated the consensus was to set the charrette sometime in April with the
expanded committee including key members of the Pleasanton staff, especially Planning, Parks,
and Public Works.

Item 6e
Vineyard Corridor School Loop Road Design (SR 03:025)

Mr. Brozosky recused himself from this discussion and left the dais because his property
is adjacent to the school site.

Brian Swift presented the staff report.

Ms. McKeehan indicated the School District was in support of Alternate 1.

Mr. Campbell asked if that were more expensive than the other.

Mr. Swift said they were about the same in cost.

Mr. Campbell asked if students could walk from Ruby Hill.

Pleasanton City Council 26 01/21/03
Minutes
