Pleasanton. She paid special tribute to her understanding husband, Carl, her daughters Carleen
and Michelle and Michelle's husband, Michael. Her family has shared her with the community
for 27 years and she appreciated their support during all the time she has been involved, whether
in soccer, Hope Hospice, Valley Care Foundation, etc. She congratulated Jennifer and Steve and
she welcomed them to the City Council.

(The families of Ms. Dennis and Ms. Michelotti were acknowledged and pictures were
taken.)

On behalf of the City staff, Ms. McKeehan thanked Ms. Dennis and Ms. Michelotti for
being such terrific challengers. It is the role of a Councilmember to challenge staff and ask hard
questions to get them to do the best they can and to be as professional as possible in moving the
community forward. Staff will miss them very much, but staff expects them to continue to
participate and ask questions.

Mayor Pico again thanked Ms. Michelotti and Ms. Dennis for their years of service on
behalf of the City of Pleasanton. All the Community of Character elements have been
exemplified by them during their terms. Adhering voluntarily to the term limits truly
exemplifies integrity and respect.

The Honorable Judge Jacob Blea, Superior Court Judge, administered the oath of office
to Ms. Hosterman, Mr. Brozosky and Mayor Pico.

The newly elected officials took their place on the dais.

2b. ROLL CALL

City Clerk Peggy Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: Councilmambers
present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, Jennifer Hosterman, and Mayor Tom
Pico. Staff members present were: Deborah McKeehan, City Manager; Michael Roush, City
Attorney; Phillip Grubstick, Interim Director of Public Works-Engineering; Scott Baker, Interim
Director of Public Works-Operations; Gall Gilpin, Economic Development Manager; Lisa
Adamos, Economic Development Specialist, and James W. Wolfe, Director of Parks and
Community Services.

Ms. Hosterman thanked Ms. Michelotti and Ms. Dennis for their time and dedication to
their jobs as leaders of Pleasanton. She thanked City staff for being such a great organization
filled with individuals who are experts in their fields and have always been helpful. She thanked
those who worked on her campaign, her husband, daughters Heather, Sarah and Megan, and her
grandmother. She thanked Mayor Pico for his fine leadership for the past years. Finally, she
thanked the community for placing its trust and confidence in her to recognize what is best for
Pleasanton and to make it happen. She acknowledged she would probably not be able to make
all the people happy all the time, but she promised she would do everything she can to maintain
Pleasanton's special quality of life. She mentioned an email from her Mother who said "90% of
what you say nobody cares about, so keep it short."

Pleasanton City Council 3 12/03/02
Minutes
