Approved the plans and specifications for the Stoneridge Mall Road sanitary sewer <br /> extension and storm drain improvements, Project Nos. 992050 and 998053, reviewed the <br /> bids and awarded the contract for the subject project to McNamara & Smallman for a low <br /> bid of $139,281; and authorized the City Manager to enter into the contract. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti read the proclamation establishing September 1 lth as "A Day to <br />Remember". She asked for a moment of silence and then presented the proclamation to Fire <br />Chief Stewart Gary and Police Chief Tim Neal. She expressed her gratitude to the forces <br />involved in the event and its aftermath. <br /> <br /> ChiefNeal thanked Council for the proclamation. Fire Chief Gary referred to a speech <br />made by General MacArthur and the words "duty, honor, country". There are three no finer <br />words to represent the sacrifices made last September by civilians and uniformed personnel. He <br />announced that there would be three ceremonies that the public can participate in. At 7:00 a.m. <br />at the flagpole at the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building, at the flagpole in Livermore at the <br />intersection of North and South Livermore Avenue, the police and fire department color guards <br />and mayors of the two cities will be representatives in a national moment of silence and lowering <br />of the flag to half staffa the time the two towers fell.
