He urged Council to support the <br />project. <br /> <br /> Patrick Greenan, 2731 Spinosa Court, a construction inspection business owner, <br />supported this project. He felt this project will help the economy. <br /> <br /> Kevin Duggan, 6901 Stagecoach Road #E, Dublin, supported the project. He believed <br />Applied Biosystems has made a great effort to fit in with the City's needs, will bring jobs and <br />benefit the community. The corporation will contribute to the community in many ways and will <br />bring new residents to the City. <br /> <br /> Mike O'Malley, 3140 Joanne Circle, construction manager, indicated he has constructed <br />buildings all over the Bay Area. As a resident, he is glad to see a company like Applied <br />Biosystems come to Pleasanton and revitalize an old campus. He is glad to hear that Applied <br />Biosystems is widening and beautifying Sunol Boulevard, a major entry to the City and to <br />downtown. He felt everyone should be grateful for the employment the new campus will bring <br />from construction jobs to permanent positions with the company, as well as the benefits to <br />existing supporting business that will benefit from having another 1,200 employees in the City. <br />He urged Council to approve this project and allow it to continue. <br /> <br /> Ted Rigl, 1802 Plumeria Court, thought Applied Biosystems was quite a "catch" for the <br />City of Pleasanton. The company is a world leader in an exciting area of science and technology <br />and has a reputation as an outstanding employer. It is very active in Foster City. He supported <br />the staff recommendations. <br /> <br /> Doug Glasco, 5415 Ridgevale Road, has lived in Pleasanton for several years and <br />remembers Sunol Boulevard since he was five. He felt the planned campus is wonderful and <br />will diversify Pleasanton's economy and bring new jobs and prosperity to the area. He supported <br />the project. <br /> <br /> Peter Nowak, 4318 First Street, a business owner in Pleasanton and new resident, <br />expressed appreciation for the work the Council and Planning Commission expends on new <br />projects like Hacienda Business Park. This is a growing community that is not stagnant. He <br />supported this project. <br /> <br /> Peter Milliken, 6045 Acadia Court, indicated he has lived in Pleasanton for thirty years. <br />He thought the Applied Biosystems project was one of the most attractive projects he has seen <br />and supported its approval. He submitted a letter signed by several people supporting approval <br />of the project. Their support was based on the following: benefits to the added tax revenue; <br />improvements to Sunol Boulevard; history of good corporate citizenship shown by Applied <br />Biosystems in Foster City; easy access from the freeway for employees without congesting local <br />streets; local employment for existing residents as well as residents moving into the new housing <br />on Bernal Avenue property; the building design is well-integrated into the site to preserve the <br />rural character of the site and the project continues the gateway aspects at the entrance to <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 9 12/04/01 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
