A commendation was given to Bay Area Community Services (BACS) for its
assistance in providing interim senior daycare services.

Ms. Acosta indicated a new provider has not been found to provide the setw'ices in
Pleasantore however the City is assisting clients with transportation needs to get to the
Friendship Center in Livermore. That has helped the Friendship Center to become
successful because it was also at risk. It is beneficial to have a program like this in the
Valley. Staff is still working on a program for Pleasanton.

Other St~eakers

Gerry Brunkcn, 1753 Paseo del Cajon, complained about the quality of the sound
system in the Council Chambers. He then indicated there is a need for a golf course in
Pleasanton. Planning studies indicate that for every 25,000 people, an 18-hole course
could be supported. That means Pleasanton could support two 18-hole golf courses and
the 9-hole course at the Fairgrounds. Pleasanton has lost opportm~ities in the past for golf
courses.

Eileen Fenell, 3231 Vineyard Avenue #70. representing residents of the Hacienda
Senior Mobilehome Park, expressed concerns about the new owner/manager of the
Hacienda Mobilehome Park. Services have deteriorated and the grounds are not being
maintained. She believed Waterhouse and Associates are ignoring the agreement with
the city and stall' should pursue this matter.

Mr. Roush indicated he had been in contact with the park residents and the
property owners. A meeting is scheduled to discuss the issues.

Alan Purves, 7844 Medina Court, representing the Pleasanton Blairgowrie Sister
City Organization, extended an invitation to form a trilateral relationship to include the
City of Fergus, Ontario, Canada, Fergus is also a sister city of Blairgowrie. The Fergus
Scottish Games orgm~izors invited Pleasanton representatives to attend as guests of honor
for the opening ceremonies.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS

Item 6a
Proposed Zone 7 water connection fee increase. (SR 00:205)

Steve Cusenza presented the staff report. He then introduced Vince Wong,
Assistant General Manager of Zone 7, who explained the reasons lbr requesting lhe
increase, including the need to build treatment, storage, and delivery facilities to maintain
the water quality and reliability for existing customers.

Ms. Ayala asked for clarification of the water fillration plant at the Altomont.

Pleasanton City Council 4 07/18/00
Minutes
