considered by the Board approximately one week ago was continued until September 12,
2000. There is a request from Supervisor Haggerry to look at the issue prior to
September 12. Ms. Acosta timher explained that to be able to do thls, a Special City
Council Meeting would have to take place or Council would need to declare that the item
came up after the agenda was posted. It could then be discussed at the present meeting.

Mr. Pico was not in favor of this concept. He did not want to discuss at this time
public uses of this property when it was promised the citizens of Pleasanton that their
input would be heard. Appropriate public noticing would not be able to take place and
going forward with this item at this time is not appropriate. He felt that any support for
an ACE train station should go through the regular process. He said that he personally
had conveyed this to Supervisor Haggerty.

Ms. Ayala added that she also has talked with Supervisor Haggetty about the
process already in place to address this item. Ms. Ayala asked for written clarification to
be sent to the County Supervisors regarding whether the ACE station could be considered
on this property since it was not included in the EIR. She also commented that when the
ACE train station originally came to City Council, the County Supervisors asked the City
to make this the permanent station at its present location. Because of the concerns of the
neighborhoods surrounding it, the station was placed thare temporarily in order to see
how the situation worked out. The result is that this arrangement has worked out very
well m~d Ms. Ayala said she is concerned that the County is thinking that there could be
other uses for this piece of property. She urged her fellow councilmembers to discuss
with Supervisor Hagerty this situation.

Ms. Michelotti had concerns about discussing this any lhrther without putting this
on the agenda.

It was moved by Mayor Tarver, seconded by Ms. Ayala, that this item be
added to the agenda because the item came forward after the agenda was posted
and needs City Council action before the next regularly scheduled City Council
meeting.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Cotmcilmembers - Ayala. Dennis, Michelotti and Mayor Tarvet
NOES: Councilmember Pico
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver said that he had discussed with Supervisor Hagerty the ACE train
station situation. He believes that Council cannot take an action that conveys to the
Supervisors what Supervisor Haggerry wants. Ehe community will have an opportunity to
address the ACE train station location in a process already in place.

Ms. Ayala requested that Staff draft a letl~r to the Supervisors advising them of
the process already in place.

Pleasanton City Council 10 09/05/00
Minutes
