Ms. Michclotti said that duc to the popularity of the ACE train there is a need of a
station for Pleasanton residents, which comprise one-third of the approximately 1500
riders currently riding the train,

Mayor Tarver said that it appears that there is not a need for a Special City
Council meeting because there is enough information presently available to have staff
draft a letter to the Supervisors.

Ms. Acosta said that staff would move forward with the drafting of the letter,
noting in the letter that it was put on Council Agerids as an urgency item. She asked
Council if it would like this added to the scope of work for the Task Force, making sure it
looked at the ACE train station.

Mr. Pico felt that was not necessary and that the Task Force should simply go
through the process as it is already set and he did not want to bias the outcome.

Mayor Tarver stated that hc told Supervisor Hagerty that the station is on the list
mad will go through the process.

It was moved by Mr. Pico, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to direct staff to send a
letter to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, including that the Pleasanton
City Council added an urgency item to the agenda, and indicating the City of
Pleasanton has a process for determining the future public uses of the Bernal
Avenue property and it is the City's desire to keep the option of the ACE train
station available, and indicating the length of time the City of Pleasanton has
worked with the City of San Francisco in order for the City to receive substantial
acreage for public purposes; if the Board of Supervisors votes not to approve the tax
sharing agreement because of the ACE train station, the City of Pleasanton would
lose this opportunity.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Cotmcilmembers - Ayala. Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarvet.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: Councilmember Dennis.

g. CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR

No action was required or taken.

CLOSED SESSION

The closed session was held earlier in the evening.

Pleasanton City Council 11 09/05/00
Minutes
