(SR 00:192) <br /> <br />Bftan Swirl presented the staff report. <br /> <br />Ms. Dennis asked how many second units wcrc in the City at present. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swiec estimated about 100, but it was becoming more common to request <br />second units in the new subdivisions. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarvcr asked if the new second units were controlled by PUD conditions <br />of approval. If that were so. why would the Planning Commission need to review <br />applications for second traits? <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said most were part of a planned unit development. The Planning <br />Commission was concerned about the total amount of building on an existing <br />neighborhood lot. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico referred to the proposed provision that detached second units must be <br />single story and asked how that would apply to the Greenbriar proposal, which includes <br />second units over some detached garages. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift explained the second units would bc rcvicwcd as part of the PUD <br />process, which would be apart from the proposed ordinance. The Platruing Commission <br />felt detached two-story second units in existing neighborhoods would be a problem. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico was concerned about prohibiting something in existing neighborhoods <br />that would be allowed in new developments.
