driveway and the importing of ~l matcrlal; and require a waste diversion plan to be
~ed with the City when the existing buildings are demolished.

The roll call vote was as fbllows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti. and Pico
NOES: Mayor Iarver
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver did not want to approve the project with 3,200 parking spaces. He
was aware that a change in the mix of uses would change the required parking spaces, but
he preferred to know exactly how many spaces were to be constructed. He preferred firm
lhnits, not just goals. He wanted to satisfy the neighbors' concerns and even though the
parking meets City standards, he felt it was too much.

Ms. Dennis pointed out that even if the project needed 3,200 parking spaces, that
does not exceed the City's standards for traffic impacts.

Ms. Michelotti asked for clarification on whether the project was being required
to use rubberized asphalt.

Mr. Swit~ indicated his interpretation of the motion is that when the company
comes back with the development plan, that some noise reduction plan would be
included. Rubberized asphalt could be a component of that plan. He pointed out that a
demonstration of that would be done soon. If it works, that is by fhr the most practical
solution for this area because the neighbors do not want tall soundwalls to restrict their
view of the ridge.

There was a break at 10:22 p.m.

The meeting reconvened at 10:32 p.m.

Item 6d
Vineyard Corridor Neighborhood Traffic Calming. (SR 00:190)

Bill van Gelder briefly reviewed the traffic calming program and introduced
Michael Tassano, who presented the staffreport.

Ms. Michelotti requested better siVaage directing people to turn left at Tawny to
get to the continuation of Vineyard Avenue.

Mayor Ta~wer asked why installation of the traffic signal at Smoketree Commons
was delayed to 2001. How does that coincide with improvements to the bridge?

Pleasanton City Council 17 07/l 1/00
Minutes
