Ms. Michelotti said that she anticipated that when this plays out, this will be one
of the icons of this concept, where you have residential, hotel/conference type facilities
and office all in one center~ She thanked Mr. Snyder.

Mr. Snyder stated that Pleasanton has a major tenant coming to the City and one
of its concerns was that this was going to be a successful project. Although he was never
able to directly communicate with the individuals, they were reassured through others, as
well as through his phone messages, that, yes, we were moving ahead with this.

Mr. Pico stated that he truly felt that this would be the icon of projects if we can
find a way to include a little residential affordability. The Council has unanimously
stated that we wo~d be willing to participate in making some small element of
affordability in this project.

Mr. Snyder stated that this is between the City of Plcasanton and the City of
Dublin and that this can be worked out.

Ms. Michelorli said that we are continuing to explore affordability and Dublin
may decide that they want to include something like it and we are going to help them to
do it.

Ms. Acosta said that this would not be in front of the Council had it not been for
Mr. Snyder suggesting that people get together and talk.

Ms. Detmis asked that, assuming the project moves for~vard, when would we
begin to see designs?

Mr. Snyder said that he thought that Mr. Russell had hopes of being in
construction by next Spring and he would think that some elements of design arc
occurring fight now. It is a public company involved, they have to show a return on their
investment and they want to move forward as rapidly as possible.

Ms. Acosta said that they have begun their work with plam~ing, but that the EIR
work had to be done first.

Ms. Dennis said that she was so pleased that Mr. Snyder was able to bring
everyone together for this concept and it is also the vision of the people who paid for that
basic infrastructure for the West Dublin DART station Ihat this ~vould not be happening
without voter and public support for a station in that location. She said that no one knew
how that was going to happen, but just by keeping after it, it did.

Mr. Snyder said that ~vhat a lot of people do not recognize is that a lot of the 1-
580/1-680 construction going on right now is designed to coordinate ~vith that station.
The hook ramps in Dublin were placed where they are today just tbr that purpose. It
makes a lot of sense to have all of this come together at the same time.

Pleasanton City Council 18 06/20/00
Minutes
