helpful, but he did not want staff to spend any time on this until the initiatives are placed
on the ballot. There is enough time between now and November to get the necessary
information. He felt it was important to have an open forum with the community and to
make certain an unbiased analysis is available.

It was moved by Mayor Tarver, seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to approve the
City Council priorities for 2000-01 as set forth on the list in the staff report, except
for the open space/agriculture initiative study.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Ms. Dennis indicated she has read the Sierra Club initiative and has been working
on the open space committee for the Tri-Valley Vision. There are a couple of issues with
the Sierra Club initiative that need to be discussed with regard to how it may impact
Pleasanton, even though it is a countywide initiative. The Sierra
Club initiative has an impact on agricultural viability.

Ms. Michelotti asked if consideration could be given to an open forum workshop
for the public to present questions for discussion.

Mayor Tarver said the League of Women Voters provides that as well as the
community access television station.

Ms. Michelotti said she supported the Tri-Valley Vision project, but she did not
what to take staff time to analyze this. There needs to be another way to get the
information out.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Mayor Tarver, to remove this from
the priorities list.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Ayala, Michelotti and Mayor Tarver
NOES: Councilmembers Dennis and Pico
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Ms. Ayala indicated she has also read the Sierra Club initiative and the
information sent to the Board of Supervisors by the Tri-Valley Vision project and she is

Pleasanton City Council 13 04/18/00
Minutes
