5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Commendations were presented to the Committee that organized the Hometown <br />Holiday parade. <br /> <br /> Commendations were presented to the members of the Amador High School <br />Marching Band and Color Guard for winning first place in the Western States Band <br />Competition. Dennis Aquilina, the Director of the program, presented aphotograph of <br />the band in their new uniforms to the Mayor. He thanked Council for the recognition. <br />Mr. Aquilina described the program and indicated the school had donated the old <br />uniforms to a band in South Africa. <br /> <br /> Jeff Renholts, 7489 Aster Court, expressed his concems about the proposed bond <br />measure to purchase the San Francisco Bemal Avenue property. He believed the citizens <br />would be paying a total of $130 million for dirt and millions more for improvements. He <br />suggested a joint purchase of the property with the East Bay Regional Park District, <br />thereby spreading the cost among the people of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. He <br />was also concerned that there is no information available on potential uses for the <br />property. He believed the best use of the property was to keep it open space. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala indicated the Task Force was meeting at the Senior Center this evening <br />and suggested he give his input at that meeting as well. <br /> <br />Ms. Michelotti asked when the next meetings of the Task Force would be. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta stated there are two meetings scheduled; one on Tuesday, January 25 <br />at 7:30 a.m. at the Fairgrounds, and one on Monday, January 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior <br />Center. <br /> <br /> Ron Magee, 7576 Northland Place, San Ramon, expressed his dissatisfaction with <br />the Police Department and related two incidents when he believed he was being harassed. <br />He described his most recent court heating and believed a police officer had committed <br />perjury. <br /> <br /> Police Chief Tim Neal indicated the matter is being reviewed and expressed his <br />willingness to meet with Mr. Magee to discuss his issues. <br /> <br /> Mr. Magee suggested the Police Department work more closely with young <br />people.
