Request to connect to City sewer system and approval of Preannexation
Agreement for McKee (3631 Vine Street, Remen Tract). (SR 00:020)
This item was discussed under item 6d.

Request to connect to City sewer and water systems and approval of
Preannexation Agreement for Dillard (Vine Street), Remen Tract. (SR 00:007)
This item was discussed under item 6d.

Authorize the City Manger to amend the current tree priming and removal
contract with Davey Tree Expert Company, increasing the contract by $80,000 to
a not-to-exceed amount of $160,000 per year. (SR 00:024)

Accept report regarding purchase of one-half fee interest in real property by East
Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) to expand the Pleasanton Ridge Regional
Park. (IR 00:004)

Jocelyn Combs, 5151 Greentree Court, representing the East Bay Regional Park
District, thanked Council and staff for assistance in acquiring the property to allow
connection of the Ridgelands Trail. She pointed out that part of the Alameda County
approval for the San Francisco Bemal property included $1 million for acquisition of
property on the Pleasanton Ridge. She said the East Bay Regional Park District has no
more funding for the Ridge. As an individual, she supported the City acquisition of the
San Francisco Bernal property. She grew up in San Francisco with access to Golden
Gate Park and felt the same concept would be good for Pleasanton. She presented
historical information about Pleasanton, remarking that the racetrack is the oldest in the
nation. One of the reasons for the track location is that it has the best footing for the
horses. There is something in the soil composition that makes it so good. Another reason
is the red oat hay that is grown on the San Francisco property was ripe so early, that
people from around the area brought their horses to Pleasanton to graze them to fatten
them up for the circuit of horse racing. The Bernal property was the basis for the Spring
Valley Water Company and she felt it was the finest agricultural land in Alameda
County. It would be a shame to pave that over, when Pleasanton could have a "Golden
Gate Park". She described the Pleasanton Ridge Park and Trail to the audience.

Approve the agreement with Domus Design Group for the performance of
relocation services of City staff and equipment from 200 Old Bemal Avenue to
157 Main Street.
