Ms Ayala reiterated her concerns about having special meetings before the
election and she did not support doing that.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Mayor Tarver, that no special
meeting be held on October 26.

Ms. Dennis had no problem with scheduling special meetings to get the work
done. It is better to spread the work out.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmember Ayala and Mayor Tarver
NOES: Councilmembers Dennis and Pico
ABSENT: Councilmember Michelotti
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver did not know if he would attend the meeting on the 21 st or the 26th,
but he was certain he would not attend both.

Mr. Pico asked if the issues scheduled for the 21st could be carried over to the
meeting of October 26. Ms. Acosta said that was possible. That way there would be
some reasonable space between the Planning Commission meeting and the Council
meeting.

Mayor Tarver referred to the report on growth management which is very late and
he wanted to see that report before discussing any more development.

Ms. Ayala again asked to set a time limit for the October 19 meeting. The
decisions are too important and should be at a reasonable time when the community can
view' the meeting.

Ms. Dennis said a meeting has to be scheduled to consider these things if Council
plans to quit at 11:30 p.m.

Mayor Tarver said there will be a meeting on the 26th unless Ms. Michelotti
changes her mind when she returns from vacation. Council should decide about October
21st. He is not interested in dealing with San Francisco until after the election and until
he has a growth management report before him.

Ms. Ayala did not think there was any reason to be doing this in a hurry. and there
is no reason for Council and staff to be out this many nights during the week.

Mayor Tarver miterated that he cannot attend three meetings in a week. The
10/26 meeting has been approved, so he will not be at the 10/21 meeting.

Mr. Pico asked if San Francisco could be reviewed on the 26th.

Pleasanton City Council
Minutes

19

10/05/99
