Ms. Dennis supported the funding request and suggested adding an item to the Council <br />agenda for youth programs to make quarterly publiC reports on their successes and communicate <br />with other young people. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti indicated this proposal would benefit the entire community and there is <br />an urgency in this matter. She cautioned that procedures for other funding requests be followed <br />in the future. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver indicated Friday Night Live is a Successful program because the young people <br />are directly involved in its operation. He indicated hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent <br />with the D.A.R.E. program and believed this was a continuation of that positive behavior. Mr. <br />Tarver encouraged the young people to apply through the regular process for continuing funding <br />of their program. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Pico, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to allocate $5,000 of the <br />Proposition 4 override funds as seed money for Friday Night Live to start programs at Foothill <br />and Amador Valley High Schools as well as at the Village High School. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelolti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Mohr <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Item 8b <br />Discussion of whether to request LAFCO to reconsider its approval of the Eastern Dublin <br />reorganization (SR 94:400) <br /> <br />Michael Roush presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Paul Moffatt. 11742 Solano Drive. Dublin City Councilmember. suggested working <br />tugetit~t to sulv~ the cuznmunity proble~ns of both Pieasanton and Dubiin. He proposed <br />developing a negotiating team to reach solutions by consensus and to educate each other <br />regarding concerns. <br /> <br /> Guy Houston, 7611 San Sabana Road, Dublin Mayor elect, indicated he grew up in <br />Pleasanton and related what the City used to be like. The leadership over the years has done <br />an outstanding job in making it what it is today. He understood that the relationship between <br />Pleasanton and Dublin has been poor in the past but indicated many benefits could be derived <br />by working together. He cited several issues tha~ need discussion; such as BART, getting a <br />West BART station, and public safety at the stations; the San Francisco property; the 580/680 <br />flyover and the off-ramp at Hopyard Road; economic development for both cities; mutual efforts <br />to streamline costs for citizens; the solutions to transportation issues by working on a regional <br /> <br />12/06/94 <br /> - 7 - <br /> <br /> <br />
