Mr. Churlca also pointed out that the Niles Canyon Railroad had completed 6.5 miles into
downtown Niles and were running regular steam trains. They are now building in the direction
of Pleasanton, all done without direct funding and using volunteer funding and labor. They are
willing to construct this line all the way into Pleasanton for the benefit of Pleasanton as well as
Fremont.

Michael Snyder, President of Pacific Locomotive Association, confirmed the completion
of its railway into Niles and that construction was started coming east to Bond Street. There
will be a brief break in which they work on the railyard. He believed it was within their means
to get to Pleasanton without official funding. He stated a bid had been submitted to the Tourist
Railroad Organization to allow Pleasanton to host the 1998 convention.

Scott Parejo, 2884 Foothill Road; Tara Mize, 3261 Royalton Court; and Christy
Robinson, 4958 Monaco Drive, representing Friday Night Live at local high schools, inquired
about how to apply for $5,000 in funding for the teen program which provides activities that do
not include drugs, alcohol or tobacco. There are five chapters in Alameda County of this state-
wide organization. They are trying to add two more chapters.

Mayor Tarver commended the students for their involvement in this program and
suggested they contact the City Manager.

Wayne Strickler, 851 Independence Court, supported the request to repeal PleasanWn's
requirement for campaign contribution disclosures which start at $25.00.

Mr. Tarver understood the difficulty in reporting $25 and more, but he did not support
changing the regulation.

Ms. Mohr suggested that after the election this matter should be brought back to Council
for further consideration.

Frank Brandes. 6889 Corte Sonada, h~dicated he had n,-,t criticized the Police Department
and did not insinuate that the department was not putting out maximum effort. fie wanted to
make it clear that he felt police personnel had been cut and he believed service levels were going
down. He referred to statistics in the staff report (which had been previously continued to the
next meeting).

Mr. Tarver indicated that this item had been continued to the next meeting and he
believed it was inappropriate for him to respond at this time.

Gary Schwaegerle, 189 W. Angela, expressed his opposition to high density residential
development.

11/01/94
