Mr. Lowell Wendell stated that he felt realtors needed these signs for adver- <br /> tising. <br /> There being no further protest from the audience, it was moved by Councilman <br /> Reid and seconded by Councilman Rega that the public hearing be closed. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Rega, Reid, and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilman Beratlis and Mayor Getton <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid stated that he felt that imagination should be encouraged to <br /> display conforming signs that would be attractive to the downtown area. <br /> Councilman Rega asked what restrictions could be placed on service stations <br /> that were using promotional signs in various campaigns and also their "A-Board" <br /> signs posting the price of gasoline. <br /> Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos stated he was more concerned with the litter in the <br /> downtown area and the large letters painted on walls and sides of buildings that <br /> were advertising certain products or services. He also stated he felt that con- <br /> tinued study in this area should be conducted as a part of an over-all program in <br /> artistic design for advertising. <br /> After some discussion it was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Council- <br />man Rega that decision on this matter be continued after the staff has outlined a <br />specific program regarding non-conforming signs that would be detrimental to <br />aesthetics in the downtown area, in particular. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Beratlis and Mayor Getton <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis and Mayor Getton returned to the Council table and Vice-Mayor <br /> Spiliotopoulos turned the gavel back to Mayor Getton. <br /> <br />Application of Falender Homes for an amendment to Ord. No. 439, Park <br />Dedication Ordinance? in order to increase the park fees required under said <br />Ordinance in order to make payments consistent with cost of land <br /> Mr. Fales reviewed the provisions of Ordinance No. 439 and the relating resolu- <br />tions. Mr. Fales recommended that the in-lieu fees be equal to the cost of the <br />land. <br /> Mr. Hirst recommended that Ordinance No. 439, be amended to include a provision <br />requiring that the fee requirement be evaluated periodically. <br /> After some discussion on this matter, it was moved by Councilman Reid and <br />seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that Ordinance No. 556, amending OrdinaDce <br />No. 439, increasing the Park Dedication fees, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> e <br /> <br /> <br />
