MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br /> Discussion Re: Proposfl~ua~y on...~pperson Ridme <br /> Mr. Fales stated that the Valley Planning Committee met on April 10, 1969, and <br /> adopted the following resolutions: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Board of Supervisors be informed that the Valley Planning Committee <br /> declare that its main mission is directed to the careful scrutiny of any <br /> development project affecting planning and land use, with particular subjects <br /> of interest to include general plan composition and modification, major land <br /> use changes, transportation systems, incorporation and annexation proposals, <br /> public works projects, and open space programming with the notable involvement <br /> of park and recreational facilities such as Sunol Regional Park. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Board of Supervisors be advised that if, in their judgment, the Sunol <br /> Regional Park property cannot be adequately protected as to its intended public <br /> use against other land use proposals in the vicinity by means of the imposition <br /> of regulations or development standards or conditions which are enforceable, <br /> then such proposals should be denied. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales reviewed the 25 conditions listed in the second motion made and <br /> passed by the Valley Planning Committee. <br /> After a lengthy discussion on the entire proposed Apperson Ridge Quarry, it was <br /> moved by Councilman Reid that Mr. Burke Critchfield, representing the Utah Mining <br /> Company, a representative from the East Bay Regional Park District and the Alameda <br /> County Planning staff representative be asked to make a presentation on the pro- <br /> posed Apperson Ridge Quarry to the City Council. <br /> Councilman Reid's motion died for lack of a second. <br /> After additional discussion it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and <br /> seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 69-70, adopting the resolution <br /> of the Valley Planning Committee regarding open space programming of park and re- <br /> creational facilities such as Sunol Regional Park, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> ~IOES: None <br /> ABSE[-~: Councilman Rega <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br /> that Resolution No. 69-71, adopting the resolution of the Valley Planning Committee <br /> regarding their request to the Board of Supervisors to adhere to all 25 conditions <br /> in protecting the Sunol Regional Park property, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilman Rega <br /> <br /> SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> Report of the Joint City-School Citizens Committee on Finances <br /> Councilman Reid, Chairman of the Joint City-School Citizens Committee on Finance <br /> requested that the Council and the Committee hold a Joint Study Session to review <br /> this report. <br /> Mr. Fales stated that he would arrange this. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> ~port of the Plannin5 Commission Re: Approval of P.U.D. 69-1, RM 1500 District, <br /> subr!itted by George Oakes for the property located north of West Las Positas B!vd. <br /> and west of Fairlands Drive and containin~ 2.1 acres <br />.... Mr. Castro presented a map of the PoU.D. and reviewed the report of the Planning <br /> Commission and their Resolution No. 884 which approved the concept for the subject <br /> P.U~D. preliminary development plan. <br /> Mr. Robert Pearson questioned the lot frontage and stated that this P.U.D. <br /> vc!uld impose too high a density in the area and create a severe traffic problem <br /> c~iong Fairlands Drive. <br /> After considerable discussion regarding this matter, it was moved by Councilman <br /> Deratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that Resolution No. 69-72, approving P.U.D. <br /> 69-I, RM 1500 District, as submitted by Mr. George Oakes for the property located <br /> north of West Las Positas Blvd,, and west on Fairlands Drive and containing 2.1 <br /> acres, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> N(~S: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilman Rega <br /> <br /> 2. <br /> <br /> <br />
