Mr. Long indicated that at this point and time there were no practi- <br /> cal solutions to alleviate the smog condition and predicted that by 1975 smog in <br /> the Livermore-Amador Valley will be a serious problem. <br /> Mayor Getton thanked Mr. Long for his most informative report. <br /> <br /> Report Re: Malor Zone No. 7 flood control facilities alon~ the Arroyo Mocho <br /> Judge William Gale, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Industrial Development <br /> Committee, reported on the importance of the flood control facilities between Hop- <br /> yard and Santa Rite Roads, south of Highway 580. <br /> Mr. Ted Fairfield and Mr. Richard Kern, Engineers, presented their report on <br /> .... The Effect of the Flood Plan and Flood Control Improvements on Industrially Zoned <br /> Lands in Pleasanton. <br /> Both Mr. Kern and Mr. Fairfield spole briefly on Zone 7 Project No. 1 and their <br /> proposed Project No. 2 improvements. Mr. Fairfield suggested that a member of the <br /> City Council be prepared to make a presentation at the Zone 7 Board of Directors <br /> meeting on February 19th. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Rega that <br /> the report from Mr. Fairfield and Mr. Kern be accepted, along with the comments <br /> made by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Industrial Development Committee. <br /> and to use this information in the Council's presentation at the Zone 7 Board of <br /> Directors meeting on February 19, 1969. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rega, Reid, Splliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Gerton requested that all members of the Council be present at the Zone <br /> ? meeting and appointed Councilman Reid as the official spokesman for the Council. <br /> Mr. Kern and Mr. Fairfield stated that they both would attend this meeting. <br /> Mayor Getton commended the Chamber of Commerce Industria]. Development Committee <br /> for their part in initiating a study of this matter. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> Mr. Fales stated that there were no reports from Boards and Commissions other <br /> _, than those presented under the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> Revision of certain on-street Parking Ar~s;:Central Business District <br /> Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Victor Lund, Jr., Chairman of the Central <br /> Business District Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, which listed possible <br /> solutions to the on and off street parking problem in the Central Business District. <br /> Mr. Fales also read a letter from Dr. Howard Long, regarding this matter. <br /> Mr. Fales reported that, with the inclusion of the recommended elimination of <br /> diagonal parking spaces within the downtown area, the City has lost 70 spaces from <br /> 1963-69 and has gained 136 spaces of off-street parking. <br /> <br /> <br />
