<br />41fi <br /> <br />In order that additional testimony may be taken from the citizens of Pleasan- <br />ton, it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br />that the Public Hearing on the requested rate increase by the Pleasanton Garbage <br />Service, be re-opened. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br />that the Public Hearing on the requested rate increase by the Pleasanton Garbage <br />Service, be continued on January 12, 1970. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega. Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />~ <br />..... <br />00 <br />'"":) <br />U <br />U <br /> <br />~TTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Discussion of future assignments for the Community Concerns Committee <br />Councilman Rega stated that he felt the most important assignment that the <br />Community Concerns Committee would be that of Youth Problems. Councilman Rega <br />stated that he prepared a draft on this subject for the Committee to review. <br />Mr. Fales stated the Committee was meeting on December 30, 1969, and were <br />preparing a draft on this subject for presentation to the Council. <br />Mayor Gerton suggested that another assignment that the Committee could <br />undertake would be to educate the new homeowner in regard to the goals of the <br />City of Pleasanton. He indicated this information could be compiled and given <br />to the developers to give to prospective homeowners. <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that members of the Community Concerns <br />Committee had taken exception to the newspaper reports that one of the assign- <br />ments to be given them was to solve the dog and cat problem in the City. and they <br />felt that assignments such as this was not the function of the Committee. <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated he felt that this Committee should be allowed <br />to prepare their list of subjects they feel are important to the City and present <br />them to the Council. <br />Councilman Beratlis' motion to assign the Committee with the charge to pre- <br />pare important data relating to the goals of the City of Pleasanton, died for <br />lack of a second to his motion. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />There were no reports of Boards and Commissions other than those submitted <br />with the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Report Re: Joint County-Wide Consolidated Traffic Records System <br />Mr. Fales reviewed his report, dated December 12, 1969, in which he recommended <br />approval of the City's participation in this program and to authorize execution of <br />the Joint Exercise of Powers Act Agreement. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that <br />Resolution No. 69-296, approving the City of Pleasanton's participation in the <br />Joint County-wide Consolidated Traffic Records System and authorizing the execu- <br />tion of the Joint Exercise of Powers Act Agreement, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Rega. Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Report of the Director of Public Works Re: Pedestrian and Bicycle Path to Mission <br />Park <br />----Mr. Campbell reported that his cost estimate for the construction of a <br />pedestrian and bicycle path to Mission Park was between $1,500. and $2,000. He <br />stated that he had discussed this construction with Mr. John Deetz and was given <br />a bid of $1,406.50. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Rega that Resolu- <br />tion No. 69-297, awarding the contract to John Deetz Construction Company for the <br />construction of a pedestrian and bicycle path from Mission Park to Pico Avenue <br />for $1.406.50, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega.
