<br />9UO' <br />i)O,~ <br /> <br />Director of Recreation and Parks, Gary Patton, displayed a map of the proposed <br />park and stated that the schematic plan for this first phase development did not <br />include lights for the tennis courts or an earth mound. <br />Mr. Fales stated that he would like to commend Mr. Campbell who, with the <br />assistance of Mr. Walter Wood, has initiated the idea of forming a group of <br />citizens called P.O.P. abbreviated for Proud of Pleasanton, to devote a certain <br />amount of hours a year to work on certain City projects. <br />Mr. Fales stated that this group has already spent week-ends to clear a grove <br />of brush in the Muirwood Park area. Mr. Fales elaborated on the objective of this <br />group and encouraged all interested citizens to contact Mr. Campbell. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Resolution No. 69-281, approving the cost estimate in the amount of $98,175.00, <br />and the schematic plans for the first phase development of Muirwood Park. be <br />adopted. <br />The roll <br />1\ YES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />call vote was as follows: <br />Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />~ <br />..... <br />00 <br />'-;> <br />U <br />U <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Report of the Assistant City Mana~er Re: Reguested Rate Increase for Pleasanton <br />Garbas:te Service <br />Mr. Fales briefly reviewed the report from the Assistant City Manager regarding <br />the requested Rate Increase for pleasanton Garbage Service, dated November 20, <br />1969. <br />Mr. Edgar reviewed the breakdown of projected costs received from the Garbage <br />Company. Mr. Edgar indicated that the report also includes but five months of <br />statistical data because of the recent change in ownership. <br />Mr. Mollinero, present owner of the Garbage Company. in answer to Councilman <br />Spiliotopoulos' question, stated that he has purchased one truck and also leases <br />a truck in addition to the trucks the Company was already operating, in order to <br />provide efficient service in Pleasanton. <br />There being no objection from the Councilman, Mayor Gerton instructed Mr. <br />Fales to schedule a public hearing on the proposed garbage rate increase for <br />8:00 P.M., on December IS, 1969. <br /> <br />~atters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Fales stated that he had forwarded a folder to the Council, entitled <br />"National Wild Life Refuge for the San Francisco Bay" and suggested that the <br />Councilmen read this report. <br /> <br />Mr. Fales also suggested the Council read the article appearing in the Novem- <br />ber issue of the Western Cities Magazine, entitled "Managing the Environment in <br />our Cities". <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />There were no reports from the City Attorney. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />From Rev. Darrell Darlin~ Re: Meetins:t of the Valley Council for Mental Health <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the above communications which stated that the next meeting <br />of the Valley Council for Mental Health will be held on December 4th at the Valley <br />Memorial Hospital to discuss the overall needs and interests of the Council for <br />Mental Health as well as forming several task groups to work on the stated pro- <br />blems. <br /> <br />From M~s. Lois R. Hill, Re: Smo~ <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from Mrs. Lois Hill, 874 Adams Avenue. Livermore, <br />which suggested that esthetically pleasing signs be placed on all roads leading <br />into the community from freeways, which would possibly make motorists aware of <br />reducing the amount of their driving. as an anti-smog effort. <br />Mayor Gerton suggested that this letter be filed with other matters pertaining <br />to Smog. <br /> <br />from Dr. Howard F. Lons:t Re: Title 23 of the 1937 Housin~ Act <br />Mr. Fales read the above letter which stated that Title 23 of the 1937 Housin?, <br />Act appears to be the most locally controllable of the subsidy programs. Mr. Fales <br />stated that the Council had asked the pleasanton Housing Authority, after the <br />Study Session. to submit a more specific proposal to the Council for their revi.ew <br />aed decision and this report should he forthcoming in the very near future. <br /> <br />3. <br />
