MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Mrs. Betty Rider, in response to Mayor Gerton's directive to the City Attorney to investigate the legality and feasibility of outlawing vehicles from streets within the City Limits of Pleasanton in an attempt to alleviate the Valley's smog problem. stated that such action would sign Pleasanton's death warrant unless some means of public transportation was made available. Mrs. Rider also protested Mr. John Long's recent suggestion to the City Council that the second car in each family be taxed out of existence. Mrs. Rider suggested that the City Council encourage the design of other types of power for vehicles. Mayor Gerton advised Mrs. Rider that every way possible to alleviate the smog problem was going to be investigated.
