<br />34-9 <br /> <br />Numerous members of the audience protested the increase in density that would <br />result from the construction of the Town Houses, charging overcrowding of schools, <br />lack of public transportation. smog, and the developers obligation to the property <br />owners in the immediate area. <br />It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Reid that <br />the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />~; <br />"""'" <br />00 <br />~ <br />U <br />U <br /> <br />After some discussion regarding density, it was moved by Councilman Spilioto- <br />poulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 69-268, approving <br />the application of the Stoneson Development Company for a planned Unit Development, <br />on that portion of land described as Parcel 1-9, Assessor's Map Book 941. GWJ7/Y"e.. cie'le/q:w'Jfi'-AZ. ~ <br />Mayor Gerton declared a recess at 10:40 P.M. . <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton reconvened the meeting at 10:45 P.M. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />Mrs. Betty Rider, in response to Mayor Gerton's directive to the City Attorney <br />to investigate the legality and feasibility of outlawing vehicles from streets <br />within the City Limits of Pleasanton in an attempt to alleviate the Valley's smog <br />problem. stated that such action would sign Pleasanton's death warrant unless some <br />means of public transportation was made available. Mrs. Rider also protested Mr. <br />John Long's recent suggestion to the City Council that the second car in each <br />family be taxed out of existence. Mrs. Rider suggested that the City Council <br />encourage the design of other types of power for vehicles. <br />Mayor Gerton advised Mrs. Rider that every way possible to alleviate the smog <br />problem was going to be investigated. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS (Continued) <br />Application to rezone from the A (ARricultural) District to the C-N (Commercial <br />Nei~hborhood) District, 0 (Office) District and a P (Public and Institutional) or <br />R}! ~l!iple) District, that propertx described as Lot 1039, Tract 2953, or more <br />commoEly known as the southwest corner of Hopyard Road and West Las positas Boule- <br />vard containinR approximately 5.6 acres, more or less <br />Mayor Gerton declared the public hearing open. <br />Mr. Castro reviewed the report of the Planning Commission which recommended <br />approval of the requested rezoning. <br />Mr. E. G. Craif, the applicant. displayed sketches of the proposed commercial <br />development for this parcel. <br />There being no public protest regarding this application for this rezoning, it <br />was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and Eeconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />the Public Hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follo~: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega. Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />APSENT: None <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br />that Ordinance No. 586, amending Ordinance No. 520, rezoning from the Agricultural <br />District to the Commercial Neighborhood District, Office District and a Public <br />and Institutional or Multiple District, that property described as Lot 1039. <br />Tract No. 2953, or more commonly known as the southwest corner of Hopyard Road <br />and West Las Positas Boulevard containing approximately 5.6 acres, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Berat1is, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />3. <br />
