<br />279 <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />These reports were included with the items listed on the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />~eyiew of Bids; Award of Contract Re: One (I) Truck.Mounted Hi-Velocity Pipe <br />CleaninK Machine <br />Mr. Edgar reviewed his report which recommended that the City Council award the <br />bid to Southwest Flexible Company, Culver City, the low bidder on the hi-velocity <br />pipe cleaning machine, for $14,991.51. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolu- <br />tion No. 69-236, awarding the contract to Southwest Flexible Company for the <br />mounted hi-velocity pipe cleaning machine for $14,991.51, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis7JR;ga, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />~ <br />..... <br />00 <br />~ <br />U <br />U <br /> <br />~port of the Director of Public Works Re: S.P.R.R. Crossing at Abbie Street <br />Mr. Campbell reviewed his report, dated October 1, 1969, and also the corres- <br />pondence between him and the Southern Pacific Company dated in March and April, <br />1969. Mr. Campbell recommended that the proposed schedule of priorities, moving <br />the Abbie Street Railroad Crossing Protection up to the current Fiscal Year, be <br />approved. He stated his recommendation is based on a new traffic count and the <br />fact that the Southern Pacific Company has expressed their interest in eliminating <br />this crossing. Mr. Hirst stated that Abbie Street cannot be closed. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the <br />report of the Director of Public Works, dated October 1, 1969, and the Schedule <br />for Installation of Automatic Crossing protection, dated September, 1969. be <br />approved. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />Ma~ters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Edgar advised the Council that the City Attorney's letter regarding a <br />detachment of certain property from V.C.S.D. has been forwarded to the Local <br />Agency Formation Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar stated that he has forwarded a copy of a letter from the Director of <br />Public Works to the Pleasanton Valley Homeowners Association regarding the collec- <br />tion of trash in certain areas, to the Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar stated that the Minutes of the August 15, 1969, Sand and Gravel <br />Committee meeting have been forwarded to the Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar reported that a copy of the Fire Service Contract between the <br />Pleasanton Housing Authority and V.C.S.D. for fire service within Komandorski <br />Village. has been forwarded to the Council. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Adoption of a Resolution declaring 24 Happy Valle~ Road as a public nuisance and <br />setting public hearing <br />Mr. Hirst explained why this resolution was necessary. <br />It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that Re- <br />solution No. 69-237, Declaring a Public Nuisance of Rubbish on Property at 24 <br />Happy Valley Road. Mr.. Hirst requested authorization to file <br />with the Local Agency Formation Commission an annexation of about 30 feet to cor- <br />("ect this discrepancy. ;<e-::.dI.ltloVAh. "'9-7.'?Ii1a-.Jhom"~- <br />It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid thatAthe <br />staff be atltl.o11~cd to initiate proceedings with the Local Agency Formation Com- <br />mission to amend the Golden Eagle Annexation to include an additional 30 foot <br />stri.p to this Annexation, b.e.
