<br />~ <br />~ <br />00 <br />~ <br />u <br />u <br /> <br />2.(JH <br /> <br />Councilman Reid questioned the flexibility of the I-G-40.000 Zoning in this <br />area in regard to smaller companies locating in this area. <br />Judge Gale. representing the Industrial Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, <br />stated that this matter had been discussed by his Committee and it was determined <br />that the I-G-40,000 zoning does give more flexibility. <br />After additional discussion on this application, it was moved by Councilman <br />Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Ordinance No. 574, amending Ordi- <br />nance No. 520, rezoning from the I-G-3ac. District to the I-G-40,000 District, <br />that parcel of land described as a portion of Parcel 1-6, Assessor's Map Book <br />941. Block 1200, a portion of Parcel 2-7, Assessor's Map Book 941, Block 1220, <br />and a portion of Parcel 1-4, Assessor's Map Book 941. Block 1300, and containing <br />approximately 32 acres, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES ~ None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />Application of D&V Builders. Inc.. for an amendment to the General Plan t~ <br />classify from the A (Agriculture) designation to the Medium Density Residential <br />designation that property described as Parcell. Assessor's Map Book 946. Block <br />1250, containing approximately 94 acres. located immediately east of Santa Rita <br />Road and north of the Kaiser Private Road <br />Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos declared the public hearing open. <br />Mr. Castro stated that this application was reviewed by the Planning Com- <br />mission on September 3, 1969, and unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Fales stated that the Chamber of Commerce Industrial Committee has re- <br />viewed this matter and have indicated that there is no need to retain this <br />property in industrial reserve because with the annexation of Annexation No. 56 <br />there now is ample industrial property. <br />Mr. Robert Pierce strongly objected to any further development in this Valley <br />as one means of controlling the Smog problem. Considerable discussion on this <br />subject ensued. Councilman Rega initiated discussion on what power the City <br />Council has to restrict development. <br />Councilman Reid asked if the subject reclassification would restrict the <br />construction of a hospital on this property and was advised by Mr. Campbell that <br />one of the six sites considered for a hospital in this area would remain on this <br />property. <br />After considerable discussion. it was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded <br />by Councilman BeratUs that the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />The matters of growth, types of development, and smog were discussed at <br />Council level. Councilman Reid emphasized that this amendment to the General <br />Plan was to decide a General plan designation and not a rezoning matter. <br />It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Resolution No. 69-228, to amend the General plan to classify from the Agricul- <br />tural District to the Medium Density Residential designation that property des- <br />cribed as Parcell, Assessor's Map Book 946, Block 1250, containing approximately <br />94 acres, located irr~ediately east of Santa Rita Road and north of the Kaiser <br />Private Road, be adopted. <br />!h~ roll call vote was as follows~ <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />Applica.tion of l'fr.
