<br />2tl3 <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Resolution No. 69-223. relieving the apparent low bidder. Edward Griffin. from <br />any further responsibility regarding his bid, due to a mathematical error, per <br />his letter dated September IS. 1969; and to waive the technical irregularities <br />in the bids submitted by Armand and Smith Construction Company for their late <br />submittal of the Equal Opportunity Employment Form and Gil Construction Company <br />for their late submittal of a list of their sub-contractors and to award the <br />landscape improvement items in the amount of $159.675.00 and the Mechanical <br />Equipment Building, the Bathhouse and Recreation Building, in the amount of <br />$200.171.00 to Armand and Smith Construction Company, San Jose, and award the <br />bid on the Swimming Pools, in the amount of $111,700.00, to A. & J. Shooter, <br />Incorporation, San Mateo, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Berat1is, Rega. Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />~ <br />..... <br />00 <br />'-:> <br />U <br />U <br /> <br />Review of Bids; Award of Contract Re: Rose Avenue Reconstruction <br />Mr. Campbell reviewed the bids that were received for the construction of <br />street improvements on Rose Avenue between Main Street and Pleasanton Avenue. <br />Mr. Campbell recommended that the contract be awarded to A. Teichert & Son. <br />Incorporated, the low bidder. in the amount of $36,782.00. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Resolution No. 69-224, awarding the contract to A. Teichert & Son, Incorporated, <br />for the street improvements on Rose Avenue between Main Street and Pleasanton <br />Avenue, in the amount of $36,782.00. be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />Fixin~ the Assessments on Adams Way Pro~erties <br />Mr. Fales reported that under the provisions of the Streets and Highways Code, <br />assessments against properties adjacent to Adams Way for a pro-rata cost of the <br />recent improvements on that street can be levied against Lawrence A. and P.B. <br />White for $1,200.00, Forrest A. and M. E. Adams for $800.00, and Laura Henry for <br />$1,600.00. Mr. Fales explained that 5 years can be allowed for full payment at <br />a fixed rate of 7% interest. <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Resolution No. 69-225, confirming assessments, against Lawrence A. and P. B. White <br />for $1.200.00, Forrest A. and M. E. Adams for $800.00. and Laura Henry for <br />$1,600.00, at 7% interest rate. for the pro-rata cost of improvements on Adams <br />~\lay, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega. Rorison Re: Recreation Swimming ProRra~ <br />Mr. Fales read the above communication which commended Mrs. Pat Cates and her <br />staff for the excellent work they have done in the Swim-to-Live classes. Mr. <br />Fales was asked to acknowledge this letter. <br /> <br />From Apartment Owners Assn. Re: Apartment Living Week <br />Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Mike Kanalakis, Executive Director of the <br />Apartment Owners Association, requesting the Mayor to proclaim the week of <br />September 29th to October 4th. 1969, as "Apartment Living Week". <br />It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the <br />Vice-Mayor proclaim the week of September 29th to October 4th, 1969, as "Apart- <br />ment Living Week". <br /> <br />3. <br />
