CONSENT CALENDAR <br />It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that <br />Resolution No. 69-218. awarding the bid of $3,430.00 for the planting and land- <br />scaping of Kottinger Park to Casa Verde Nursery, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br />ABSTAlNED:Councilman Rega <br /> <br />.PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />There were no Public Hearings scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br />~TTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />~doption of an Ordinance which would prohibit the operation of certain vehicl~ <br />in excess of three (3) tons upon certain of the streets within the City of Plea- <br />santon and establish truck routes over certain other streets within the City of <br />Pleasanton over and upon which vehicles in excess of three tons may travel <br />After considerable review and discussion, Councilman Beratlis requested that <br />the Council continue this matter at the next Council meeting in order to allow <br />him time to work on an alternate route to eliminate the Hopyard Road-Valley Avenue <br />route. <br />It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Reid that the pro- <br />posed Ordinance establishing truck routes within the City of Pleasanton be placed <br />on the City Council agenda again on September 22, 1969. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOE S : None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />There were no special reports scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br />R.F1..PORTS OF BOt\RDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />There were no reports of Boards and Commissions other than those included on <br />the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />E.[tQ!iTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Review of Bids~ Award of Contract Re: First Phase Construction of Amador Valley <br />fornmunitv Park <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the report of the Director of Public Works, dated September <br />12, 1969. which recommended that the contract for the First Phase Construction of <br />Amador Valley Community Park be awarded to the low bidder. Edward R. Griffin. <br />General Contractor, Livermore. in the amount of $459,396.00. <br />Mr. Fales then read a letter from Mr. Edward R. Griffin requesting that he be <br />allowed to withdraw his bid as he had made a mathematical error in his calcula- <br />tions. <br />Mr. Fales also read a letter from Armand and Smith Construction Company subu <br />mitting a late Equal Opportunity Employment form and citing a technical irregularity <br />of Gil Construction Company for not submitting a list of sub-contractors with their <br />bid. Mr. Fales stated that Gil Construction Company has now sent in a list of sub- <br />contractors. Mr. Hirst recommended that both the technical irregularities in the <br />bids submitted by Armand and Smith for providing a late submittal of the Equal <br />Opportunity Employment Form and by Gil Construction Company for providing a late <br />list of sub-contractors, be waived. <br />Mr. Campbell reviewed the bids and recommended that in view of Mr. Griffin's <br />matllematical error in his bid, that he be relieved of his bid and the contract be <br />awarded to Armand and Smith Company for landscaping in the amount of $159,675.00, <br />and buildings in the amount of $200.171.00, and to A. & J. Shooter, Incor.porated, <br />for the construction of swimming pools in the amount of $111,700.00 <br /> <br />2. <br />
