Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES; None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />~ <br />..... <br />00 <br />t-;:, <br />U <br />W <br /> <br />Agoption of an Ordinance which would prohibit the operation of certain vehicles in <br />excess of three (3) tons upon certain of the streets within the City of Pleasa~ <br />and establish truck routes over certain other streets within the City or Pleasa~ <br />over and upon which vehicles in excess of three tons may travel <br />Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos declared the Public Hearing, open. <br />Mr. Campbell displayed a map and explained the proposed truck routes. <br />There being no public protest, it was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded <br />by Councilman Rega that the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follo~s: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega. Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />Both Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos and Councilman Beratlis were concerned with the <br />trucks being routed on Valley Avenue which is a residential street. Discussion <br />ensued regarding the placing of signs on the Freeways directing the trucks to <br />designated routes. Mr. Hirst advised the Councilman that the State Department of <br />High\V'ays would not place signs on the freeways for this purpose. <br />Councilman Beratlis stated that he would like to study this route to see if a <br />routs could be desi.gned to eliminate the Valley Avenue truck traffic. <br />It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that the <br />matter of the truck route in the City of Pleasanton be continued until the next <br />Council meeting for discussion. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilm~ Ber;tli~, Rega, Reid and Vice-Mayor Spiliotopoulos <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Gerton <br /> <br />~RS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />There were no matters continued for decision. <br /> <br />~CIAL REPORTS <br />EXEression of Gratitude to Mr. Walt Wood and particit2ati1:t.g_Y()J,1.I:!&"_Q.~o-.nle Re :_ <br />Volunteer completion of landscaping work around Library <br />Mr. Fales stated that Mr. Walt Wood and the young people who voluntarily land- <br />scaped the Libr.ary Building on Angela Street were present. <br />Mr. Wood introduced the members of Boy Scout Troup Nos. 988.901 and the Ex- <br />plorer Troup who participated in this work. <br />The City Council expressed gratitude to Mr. Wood and the Scouts for the work <br />they accomplished at the Library Building. <br /> <br />[~owing of a film Re: Smo~ .. <br />Mr. Fales stated that Mr. John Long, who was to have shoTNn a film on Smog. was <br />unable to be present at this meeting and had asked for a continuance of this matter. <br /> <br />.!EPORTS OF BO\RDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />There were no reports of Boards and Commissions, other than those included with <br />the Consent Calendar items. <br /> <br />gEPQRTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />}.eyjew of Bidsi Award of Contract Re: Tennis Courts on Pleasanton Elementa!Y-Echool <br />Q!2.~~nds <br />Mr. Fales announced that the bids on the Tennis Courts were opened on September <br />5, 1969, and Mr. John Deetz. who submitted the low bid, had requested that he be <br />relecsed from his bid because of an error he made in calculating the square footnge <br />of the tennis courts. Mr. Fales recommended that Mr. Deetz be released, his bid <br />bond be returned, and the contract be awarded to Asphalt Surfacing Company for <br />$13.969.00. Mr. Fales stated that the Engineers' estimate on this project was <br />$14,000.00. <br /> <br />4. <br />
