Edmands reviewed the work being done by
the Industrial Committee. He also reported on the statistics relat-
ing to industrial development, one of which was the fact that the
industrial developers in Pleasanton are spending $100,000 a year
in advertizing for tenants.

Mr.. Edmands emphasized the fact that the Chamber of Commerce simply
did not have the funds to hire a full time manager and staff to pursue
this type of development. He then introduced Mr. Tom Howard, an
Industrial Committee member, who is employed by Reynold C. Johnson
Company. Mr. Howard not only concurred with Mr. Edmands remarks but
advised the Council that some 38 inquiries were received as a result
of advertising in a national magazine which featured the Kaiser
Research Center in Pleasanton. He also reported that these inquiries
were from nation-wide sources who each expressed a preliminary inter-
est in developing in Pleasanton.

Mr. Howard further stated that the City Staff, who has done a magnifi-
cant job in the recruitment of industry in the City, be relieved
of some of this work and a full time competant secretary be hired who.
is knowledgeable in this field, that can work with these potential
industries and locate them in Pleasanton. r~r. Howard suggested that
a sub-committee be formed to investigate this possibility.
