~ro Castro Reviewed the report of the Plannin~ Commission, dated May 15~ 1970, Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open. Mr. E. G. Craig, architect, presented drawings of the P.U.D~ and explained the plans for landscapin~ and parking. ~r. Craig also showed slides of the proposed development and pointed out green belts and open space areas. Bill Morrison, Dale Weston, Jack Goltermann, Chuck Seymour and Christine Pearson were among the members of the audience who state~ their reasons for bein~ opposed to the development. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Pearson that the public hearing be closed. The roll call vote was as follows: ~ AYES: Councilmen Berat!is, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos a~d ~D Mayor Reid ~ NOES: None ~.~ ABSENT: None Councilman Gerton stated that he was in favor of this town house tyDe of development because too much area covered with single family dwell- ings promote "urban sprawl~'. Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he thought that this town house concept, with open space and green belt areas, was an excellent one. .... ~fter more discussion, it was moved by Councilman Pearson that the application of First Pleasanton investors, be denied. The motion died for lack of a second. It was then moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 70-125, approving the application of First Pleasanton Investors to rezone, by amendment to the original P.U.D., from the RM-2500 and R-1-6500 Districts, to the C-F and RM-2000 Districts, that property described as Parcel 2-9, Assessor's ~ao Book 9~6, Block 1101, containing approximately 11.7 acres, and a portion of Parcel 6, Assessor's Map Book 99-B, Block 3950, Page 1, containir~g approximately 9.1 acres, more commonly known as that property immed- iately south of Interstate Route 580 and east of TassaJara Road, be ~dopted. Councilman Pearson made a substitute motion to rezone from R~-2500 to RM-4000. His substitute motion died for lack of a second. The roll call vote on Councilman Gerton's motion~ was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton and Spiliotopoulos ~OES: Councilman Pearson and Mayor Reid A~&ENT: None Mayor Reid recessed the meeting a 9:55 P.M.° Mayor Reid reconvened the meeting at 10:10 P.M. ~IATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION There were no matters continued for decision.
