In his report, the Director of Public Works stated that a speed <br /> study was conducted on Sunol Boulevard from the Freeway to Plco Avenue and it was <br /> found that the present 45 mile speed limit was adequate. The Director of Public <br /> Works, after a study of the intersection of Sunol Blvd.and Sonoma Drive, also <br /> recommended that a denial of a left turn out of Sonoma Drive is not warranted. <br /> Mr. Fales suggested that this particular application should be referred back <br /> to the Planning Commission in order that it may be considered at their meeting <br /> next Wednesday along with other various land uses in that area. <br /> After some discussion of this matter at Council level, Raymond Young, the <br /> applicant, asked for an immediate decision of his request for zoning. He claimed <br /> that the Council had stated that a definite action would be taken at this meeting. <br /> Mayor Reid explained the involvement of his request in adjoining land uses. <br /> Mr. Young insisted that a decision be made at this meeting. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Mayor Reid that Resolution <br /> No. 70-118, denying the application of Raymond D. Young for an amendment to Ordi- <br /> nance No. 520, rezoning from the I-r District to the C-S District that property <br /> described as Lot No. 32, Tract No. 2527, and located on the southeast corner of <br /> Sonoma Drive and Sunol Boulevard, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Getton, pearson and Mayor Reid <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br /> <br /> SPECIAL REPORTS <br />- Presentation by tJ~e Rev. Wilson Re: ImproVement of Centur~.Pa~ <br /> Mr. DeWitt Wilson clarified his letter regarding the use of the $10,000.00 he <br /> and Mr. Costanzo had donated to the City for the use in the improvement of Century <br /> Park by stating that the money is to be used either to restore or demolish the <br /> Blacow House by March 1, 1971. <br /> Mayor Reid expressed appreciation to Mr. Wilson for his generous gift. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Mayor Reid that Resolution <br /> No. 70-119, accepting with appreciation the Cashier's Check in the amount of <br /> $10,000.00 from Mr. DeWitt C.
