Discussion ensued regaring the uses of the adJacen~ properties, <br /> <br /> Councilman Spiliotcpoulos suggested that this matter be postponed until the <br /> proposed development of the adjoining areas is known and then reevalua~e this <br /> appeal, <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Pearson that the <br />appeal of Horrison Homes, from an adverse decision of the Planning C~ission in <br />denyin~ an application to fezone from the Single Family ReSidence to the ~4-1500 <br />Multiple Family District, that property described as Parcel 2, Assessores Hap <br />Book 946, Block 3265, containing approximately 3.3~ acres and lying 4~ediately <br />north of the E1 Rancho Hotel on the ~est side of Santa Rita Road, be denied, <br /> <br />.~he ro11. Ca!1 Vote was as. follows.: <br />AYES: Councthnen Beratlis, Getton, Pearson and Hayor R~id <br />NOES: Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Councilman Getton expressed his concern over the fact that this parcel might <br />not develop for quite a period of <br /> <br />Pr~r~entn~lion by Father ~Tilltsm Abeloe Re~ard!n~ Historic Buildings <br />~yor Reid stated that due to a tim element, this report,scheduled for later <br />on the agenda, would be heard st this time. <br /> <br />Father Abelee, representin~ the California Historical Council, the ALameda <br />Historical Society and the Los Californianos, reported that t~o of the three <br />remaining adobe buildings in the Pleasanton area, be preserved, He cited that <br />the l~alter Johnson home on Foothill Road vas being preserved but that both the <br />Franciscan Adobe Building on the Meadowlark Dairy.property and the Adobe Barn on <br />Ray Street, ~ere in danger o~ being demolished, Father Abeloe further stated <br />that these t~o buildings ~ere erected in the 1840es and the Francisco Adobe ~as <br />officially registered by the Secretary of State as an Historical Landmark. <br /> <br />e~n~ilnan Getton stated that he will visit the adobe barn and see ~dtat measures <br />can be taken to insure its preservation, Councilman Getton also was advised that <br />the Franciscan Adobe ~111 be preserved, <br /> <br />Father Abeloe presented the Council with certificates in scknowledgemant of the <br />contribution to cultural heritage of California for the Francis Solano Alviso <br />Adobe, located on the Meadowlark Dairy property and also for the Kottinger Adobe <br />Barn on Ray Street in Pleasantart, <br /> <br />Mayor Reid thanked Father Abeloe ~or his report and for the awards. <br /> <br />}~ATrERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />~aive the readi...n~ of Ordinan.ce Hoo 601.
