Mr. Lee Amaral, Attorney for several residents in the Rosepointe Subdivision, <br /> cited sections from the Zoning Ordinance that were not compatible with the re- <br /> quest of Mr. Ruth. <br /> Residents from the Rosepointe Subdivision, including Messrs, John Payne, Roy <br /> Edwards, Michael Pearson, George Mirande, McCullough, each stated their reasons <br /> for objecting to this rezoning. <br /> After extended discussion on this matter, it was moved by Councilman Reid and. <br /> seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that the Public Hearing be closed. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratiis, ~ega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> After considerable discussion at Council level, it was moved by Councilman <br />Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Reid that Resolution No. 70-48, denying <br />the appeal of Mr. Herman Ruth from an adverse decision of the Planning Commission <br />in denying an application to rezone from the R-1-6500 District to the P.U.D. No. 590 establishinS <br />lower Prima Facie Speed Limits on certain Streets within the City <br /> Mr. Campbell read his report, dated March 4, 1970, in which he recommended <br />the reducing of prima facie speeds of 65 miles per hour on the following streets <br />within the City of Pleasanton to the speeds listed as follows: <br />1. Reduce from 65 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour on Valley Avenue west from <br /> the west line of Tract No. 2904 to Hopyard Road. <br />2. Reduce from 65 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour on Hopyard Road from Valley <br /> Trails Drive (north) to the north end of the Del Valle Bridge on Division St. <br />3. Reduce from 65 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour on Tassajara Road from <br /> Highway 580 southerly to Santa Rita Road and Santa Rita Road southerly to <br /> 100 feet north of Valley Avenue. <br />4. Reduce from 65 miles per hour on Hopyard Road from Highway 580 southerly to <br /> Valley Trails Drive (north). <br /> <br /> After some discussion of Mr. Campbell's recommendations, it was decided to <br />continue this matter at the Council meeting of March 16th in order to allow the <br />Councilmen time to review these proposed speed limits. <br /> <br />Review of bids; Award of Contract Re: Construction of first phase of Peters Avenue <br /> Mr. Campbell displayed a drawing of the first phase on construction of Peters <br />Avenue and reviewed the bids received for this work. <br /> He recommended that the bid be awarded to Les McDonald for the low bid of <br />$19,398.50, which included the transplanting of a large Cedar Tree located in the <br />center of the proposed street. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br />that Resolution No. 70-49, awarding the contract to Les McDonald, in the amount <br />of $19,398.50, for the first phase of construction of Peters Avenue, and trans- <br />planting the Cedar Tree, be adopted. <br /> <br /> $ <br /> <br /> <br />
