449 <br /> <br /> Mr. John Griffin, representing Mr. James Stacy of California-Hawaiian Mobile <br /> Estates, stated that a continuation to February 16, 1970, on the subject Public <br /> Hearings would create a definite hardship as their option on this property will <br /> be cancelled on February 1, 1970. Mr. Griffin requested that these hearings be <br /> held prior to February 1st, as Mr. Stacy will not seek to exercise their option <br /> without a use permit. <br /> Mr. Hirst asked Mr. Griffin if it would be helpful if these Public Hearings <br /> were continued as soon after the Planning Commission met and discussed this matter, <br /> and Mr. Griffin replied that it would be. <br /> After considerable discussion regarding a valid use permit on the property, <br /> and other legal aspects, Councilman Reid amended his motion to continue the above <br /> three public hearings to January 19, 1970, and Councilman Rega amended his second <br /> to the motion. <br />The roll call vote was as...follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />A_~pliq.at~on of the Planning Commission for an amendment to ~e~t.~on 2..100~ Ord. S. <br />Hp~xsin~ Act of 1937 <br /> Mr. Fales stated that representatives from the Housing Authority would be <br />unable to be present at this meeting and had requested that this report be pre- <br />sented at the City Council meeting of January 12, 1970. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />R__eport of the Director 0.f.PubliC F0~ks Re: Progress Report- Central Business Dis- <br />trict <br /> Mr. Campbell presented overlay charts for each year showing demolitions, <br />alterations and the new buildings constructed in the Central Business District <br />for the past 6 year period. <br /> <br />~.eport of the Assistant City ManaRer Re: Further..report regarding the f~atbe~ du~R <br />truck <br /> Mr. Edgar reviewed his report regarding the possibility of equipping the flat- <br />bed dump truck with the proper equipment to power the truck with liquid petroleum <br />gas. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that <br />Resolution No, 70-6, accepting the recommendations as outlined in the Assistant <br />City Manager's report on the flatbed dump truck, dated December 31, 1969, be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />A~IS: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />~eDort of the Director of Public Works Re: Use of Main Street Sign S~__ruC~ure <br /> Mr. Campbell reviewed his report regarding the use of the Main Street sign <br />structure, dated December 3, 1969. <br /> Councilman Beratlis stated that he felt the word "officials" should be deleted <br />from the recommended uses of allowable advertizing that could be attached to the <br />Main Street sign. <br /> Councilman Rega stated that he thought that advertizing attached to the sign <br />presented a traffic hazard, <br /> Discussion ensued regarding the removal of the Main Street sign. <br /> <br /> <br />
