Parrish be dismiss~.~{q. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None ~,~ayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Further consideration of the Prop0s.e.d' Mod. i. fic. ation~.. to___~the Pleasanton <br /> Sewage Treatment Plant.. .................. <br />Mr. Edgar reviewed his ,report,. dated~December 10, 1971 on the proposed <br />modifications of the Sewage Treatment Plant. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by ~layor Reid that <br />Resolution No. 71-249, authorizing the expenditure of $45,600 to <br />finance Step I as outlined in the report of the City I~anager, dated <br />December 10, 1971, entitled A Program to Abate Nuisances at Pleasamton <br />Sewage Treatment Plant, be adopted. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid asked for Councilmen's comments prior to calling ~or the <br />vote. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar read a letter signed by Messrs. David Bigge~~, 30.1 Junipero <br />Street and Chuck Seymour, 492 San Gabriel Court, representirxg the <br />residents of the Mission Park subdivision. The letter contained the <br />following requests from these residents. <br /> <br /> 1. The City make the smallest expenditure possible to control <br /> or alleviate the intrusion of odors into residential areas. <br /> <br /> 2.That no new connections or increased flow be allowed into <br /> the plant. <br /> <br /> 3. That the City remove the Sunol Treatment Plant as soon as it <br /> becomes economically feasible. <br /> <br />Councilman Pearson stated that he will vote for Counci~!F.~.an Gerton's <br />motion if he can be guaranteed that there will be no future connect- <br />ions to the plant. <br /> <br />Councilman Gerton suggested that any investment beyond $50,000 should <br />be subjected to public hearings. <br /> <br />Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he would not support any new <br />expenditure beyond the $45,600. <br /> <br />Councilman Pearson stated that he did not think the $45~600 expendi- <br />ture would alleviate the odor problem unless the digester is patched. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid emphasized the urgency of the problem that as a result of <br />the cease and desist order, this city is faced with a 20% deficit in <br />anticipated revenues this year. He further stated that the Citv has <br />passed the point where it can afford negative response to problems <br />and that we have to work positively. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid then called for the vote on Councilman Gerton's motion. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Spiliotopoulos and ~ial.~o~' }~eid <br />NOES: Councilman Pearson <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 2. <br /> <br /> <br />
