Mayor Reid stated that councilmen should address themselves more to the <br />political implications rather than attempt to act as technical experts <br />in field where they are not fully qualified. He fur~her stated that <br />this is a time for positive action rather than negative reaction and <br />that he intends to take positive action in setting forth the positions <br />this city must take. <br /> <br />Request of Mrs. Howard Klein for,.Pri~ate s.e.wa~e D_~I_ System in · <br />the ...Longview area <br />Mr. Edglar~ as~kedth~t this matter be postponed until the meeting of <br />january 3, 1972. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS ............... <br /> <br />Repo. rt Re: Tabulation. of_.City Flower Contest <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar reviewed the list of flowers proposed in the City Flower <br />Contest. <br /> <br />After soma dis~ssion,l it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and <br />seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 71-250, design- <br />ating the Don Juan Rose as the official flower of the City of <br />Pleasanton, be adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br />There were no reports of Boards and Commissions. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />Report of the City Manager Re: Financial Status of Assessment <br />District No. 70-1, Longview. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar reviewed his report dated December 16, 1971 regarding the <br />financial status of the Longview Assessment District ~o. 70-1. In <br />his report he stated that there are normally three ways to dispose <br />of the $7,456.85 surplus, namely, 1) establish a Maintenance Fund, <br />2) refund the surplus to property owners or 3) credit surplus toward <br />unpaid assessment payments. Mr. Edgar further stated that since this <br />is the City's first hillside subdivision, it may involve more main- <br />tenance than an ordinary subdivision. Mr. Campbell concurred with <br />Mr. Edgar and added that the Final Engineers Report has not yet been <br />approved. <br /> <br />After some discussion on this matter, it was moved by Councilman <br />Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that this matter <br />be continued 'until further' reports' have been submitted. <br /> <br />The roll' call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Report Re: Pleasanton-Livermore participation on the Boazd of Control <br />regarding BART Extension Stud~. <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar reviewed his report, dated December 16, 1971, j.n which <br />he recommended that the City Council authorize the appropriate City <br /> <br /> 3. 12-20-71 <br /> <br /> <br />
