Report of the Director of Public Works ~re. ga. rdin~. completion of valley <br /> Avenue <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell reviewed his report which was dated August 26, 1971, and <br /> recommended that the staff be authorized to proceed with this project. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman <br /> Beratlis that Resolution No. 71-184, authorizing the staff to proceed <br /> with the completion of Valley Avenue as outlined in the report of <br /> the Director of Public Works, dated August 26, 1971, be adopted. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br /> NOES: None Mayor Ried <br /> ABSENT: ' None <br /> <br /> REPORTS' OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> <br /> Report of the City Attorney regarding Dissolution of Pleasanton Town- <br /> ship County Water' DistriCt ........ <br /> <br /> Mr. Hirst reviewed his report dated August 26, 1971 and also the pro- <br /> posed resolution of application of the dissolution of the Pleasanton <br /> Township County Water District. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spilio- <br /> topoulos that Resolution No. 71-185, regarding the application to <br /> disolve the Pleasanton Township County Water District, be adopted. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />.... NOES: None Mayor Reid <br /> ABSENT: None' <br /> <br /> Memorandum of the City Attorney regarding Licensing of Cats <br /> <br /> Mr. Hirst stated that he has researched this matter and is satisfied <br /> that the City may, in the exercise of its police power, require the~o <br /> licensing of cats. He also stated that the administrative and enforce- <br /> ment problems involved in implementing such regulations are substan- <br /> tial and relate to, among other things, doubt as to present avail- <br /> ability of an effective rabies vaccination for cats and the expense <br /> involved in enforcing such regulations. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hirst was granted his request to investigate these problems and <br /> to provide a recommendation to the Council at a later date. <br /> <br /> COMMUN I CAT I ON S <br /> <br /> There were~ no communications read at this meeting. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE 'REPORTS <br /> <br /> There were no City Council Committee reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS ~ .... <br /> <br /> After discussion initiated by Councilman Gerton regarding Pteasanton'~s''. <br /> growth, it was moved by Councilman Gerton and seconded by Mayor Reid <br /> that the staff be instructed to study and report which' pnblic agencies, <br /> municipal or otherwise, provide services for or are affected+ by <br /> Pleasanton's municipal growth and recommend a proper format for the- <br /> preparation-of "environmental impact statements" to be obtained from <br /> each agency once per year for the purpose of informing the City Council <br /> <br /> 5. 8-30-71 <br /> <br /> <br />
