The referendum having been successful according to the City Clerk's <br />canvass of votes, thus repealing Ordinance No. 629, discussion ensued <br />regarding existing land use on the parcel covered by Ordinance No. 629. <br />In light. of remarks by Mayor Reid there was general ag~reement that <br />perhaps further study over a short time span would be .!appropriate <br />prior to fixing of permanent zoning district boundaries. The Council <br />was presented with a draft of an ordinance purporting to place the <br />land covered by Ordinance No. 629 in a Study District temporarily <br />pending study, said district to expire, unless extended pursuant to <br />Section 65658 of the Government Code. The Ordinance was numbered 637 <br />and was to be effective immediately in order to ensure that short <br />time study of land use be effected without reliance by the landowner <br />on the underlying Commercial zoning which might have an adverse <br />economic effect on the value of surrounding properties and be out <br />of character therewith. <br /> <br />It was moved by Mayor Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Ordinance No. 637 amending the zoning classification on an interim <br />urgency basis to a Study District for approximately 18 acres of land' <br />located in the City of Pleasanton at the southeasterly corner of <br />Bernal Avenue and Foothill Road, Bounded on the east by the Arroyo <br /> De La Laguna, on the south by a parcel of property approximately 20 <br /> acres in size zoned RM-2500, on the west by Foothill Road and on <br /> the North by Bernal Avenue, be introduced and adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: Councilman Gerton <br />ABSNET: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Pearson <br /> that the reading of Ordinance No. 6,37, be waived. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: NOne <br /> <br /> 0F BOAR.nS CO ISSIONS <br /> <br />There were no reports from Boards or Commissions. <br /> <br />REPORTS OFI'' THE CITY "b~NAGER .... <br /> <br />Report of the City Manager regarding the adoption of the 1971-72 <br />Tax Rate <br /> <br />Mr. Edgar read his ~report, dated August 24, 1971, in which he recomm- <br />ended that the City Council consider two alternatives, the first being <br />Tax Code Area No. 1 at $1.40 and Area No. 2 at $1.38 and the second <br />alternative' being Tax Code Area No. 1 at $1.50 and Area No. 2 at $1.48,' <br />He stated that raising the General Fund Tax to $1.00 would provide <br />extra funds for a number of important projects that have been pending <br />for some time. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman <br />Pearson that Resolution No. 71-183, setting the City of Pleasanton <br />tax rate for 1971-72 at $1.50 per $100.00 of assessed valuation for <br />Tax Code Area No. 1 and at $1.48 per $100.00 of assessed valuation <br />for Tax Code Area No. 2, be adopted. <br /> <br />The roll. call vote was · as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, GertOn~ Pearson, Spiliotopoulos and <br />NOES: None Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 4. .-r ~,-/8'-30-71 <br /> <br /> <br />
